Resume Checklist

1. Your resume's format/design needs to look exactly like page 303 in your textbook. Your resume has to fit on one page. Your reference sheet must fit on a separate sheet of paper. You may individualize and/or personalize it later for your personal records. In addition, you will need to follow all directions given in class. 3. Use 12 font size for text (Times New Roman) and 16 font size for your main headings (in Bold). Bold margin headings in 12 fonts such as Job Objective. Use your computer’s Spell Check. Remember, your resume has to fit on one page.

4. Work experiences should begin with the most recent job first. List no more than 2 work experiences at this time.

5. All addresses should have enough information to be deliverable by the U.S. Postal Service including street numbers, street name, city, state, and zip codes. All telephone numbers must include area codes. Remember, our area code is 432. Abbreviations must include a period at the end of the abbreviated word.

6. Everyone must include SkillsUSA in your Honors and Activities section.

7. 5 References are to be listed on a separate page. No more than two references should be related to you. Give the relationship of the reference to you. Follow the format from your Personal Fact Sheet. All information must be truthful. Remember; DO NOT falsify any information on your Resume, Cover Letter, Letter of Application, and Reference Sheet.

8. All grammatical/spelling or sentence structure errors are 5 points off grade. Failure to follow the format and directions given will have 5 points subtracted from your grade. You must keep a perfect copy of your resume in your permanent file for the duration of this course.

9. Upon receiving your graded resume, your assignment is to immediately correct any mistakes or errors and resubmit it for regrading until you receive a perfect score of 100 on this assignment. When submitting a resume for regrading, you must paper clip your Old (last graded) resume with the new resume. Do this anytime you have finished the current assignment or before you begin the next assignment. You are required to continue making corrections on your Resume until you receive a perfect score of 100 on this assignment.
