Manufacturing Engineer (06/2018 to Present)

Provide oversight in the absorbable sutures group with responsibilities to improve up time yield of manufacturing the sutures from the wind and unwinding process through to the braiding process.

Selected Contributions:

• Investigate CAPA on current quenching bath of polymer extrusion system.

• Improve and speed up of pre-braiding and winding process at PDBMF winding unit of operation to allow for improvement of the branding process.

• Lead and facilitate process improvements utilizing lean tools including Six Sigma techniques, such as DMAIIC, A3, for cost reduction, and to identify root cause of failures.

• Establish validation strategies for IQ/OQ/PQ for pieces of manufacturing equipment.

• As a project team lead, apply project management skills and tools to manage time line, scheduling and resources for capital and continuous improvement projects.

Research utilized the theoretical framework of Structure Conduct Performance paradigm to compare percent growth rate and the performance with respect to three market structure strategies employed by pharmaceutical companies after patents expired.

Selected Contributions:

• Strategically applied intrinsic process control research utilizing DMAIIC methodology to investigate factors to improve yield. Research identified major hitters of yield improvement and addressed the quality issue through reprogramming and equipment modification, which resulted in a 2 to 3 point yield that translates to $250K/point.

• Facilitated feasibility studies in processing braiding machines at higher speeds. Positive result at two times the speed. Wrote System of Record (SOR) to define the equipment specifications and initiated implementation of technology of higher speed at the same quality.

Subject matter expert with respect to ensuring processes are capable of producing products per customer specifications, coordinating manufacturing processes geared toward the introduction of new or improved product designs, components, and materials, and facilitated capability studies to analyze resultant data to assist in operational optimization.

Successfully submitted and received approval for new project entitled, Higher Value Barrier Container Growth Opportunity. Proposed investment of $1.5M for new TriEx shuttle machine capable of producing 8M bottles/year, where a 300M/bottle value would return $2.4M/year, resulting in an eight-month payback.

Selected Contributions:

• Produced prototype 98 oz. Minute Maid clear PET bottle for orange juice that is currently in production, and a higher top load container with lower gram weight utilizing new raw material for Conoco Philips.

Jantex Corporation – Buford, GA

Project Manager (01/2001 to 06/2006)

Provided consultancy on scheduling, and handling of process and raw materials for MB products on the MB lines for filtration media. Facilitated consulting on Nonwoven processes, SB, MB, Wet laid, Dry laid, Film properties, fiber properties, fabrics, raw material, PP, PE, mPE, SBE, Polyurethanes Compounded combination of SBR, Nylon, PP, RCP, PBT, PET, EVA, EMA MLDPE with and without compatibles to obtain a favorable product form.

• Managed two production line and the testing laboratory. Analyzed, evaluated, sourced, and coordinated the procurement of new materials to support changes in the cylindrical filtration media for Jante.

Kimberly-Clark Corporation. – Roswell, GA

Liaison for Dow Chemical, Basell, and KC plants, and planned, scheduled, and controlled the commercialization of Down Metallocene Catalyzed Elastomeric Film casted between two fluted PP fabrics as Necked Bonded Laminate (NBL).

• Planned, scheduled, and installed in-line blending and on-line Rheometry to produce higher strength fibers that gained 20% fabric strength.
