Drawing the blood with straight needles only and only using butterflies for hand draws and or difficult draws and ordering the right tests as ordered by the doctors with the right dx code and to send specimens to the right lab to be tested according to their insurance and to send the right tests to the right doctors and to fax the results to different doctors as told by patient or doctors. Centrifuge the blood and pour off the blood and bag them as needed for testing. We also had in house testing for mono, HCG, Glucose, INR, Strep, influenza, urinalysis as ordered by the doctor.

Internal lab we drew labs on patients who walked in or by other doctor’s order. Draw correct tubes for testing and order the right tests according to the doctor’s orders and send it to the external lab to be tested.

External lab we drew blood from patients who are hospitalized, drawing the correct tubes from room to room and ordering the right tests ordered by the internal doctors. We had 5 mins per room. We drew patients from newborn to elderly age. We used straight needles and butterflies.
