Seven years with the City of Toronto Transportation Services as a Provincial Offence Officer. (2016-2022)
Thirty years experience as a police officer with the Durham Regional Police Service retiring in 2017 as the Traffic Safety Coordinator for the Region. I was responsible for conducting daily traffic enforcement of The Highway Traffic Act, City by-laws as well as coordinating with City of Oshawa officials, GO Transit, and Durham Transit regarding traffic control and street closures for special events and parades.
On a daily basis I undertook independent enforcement attending locations where I have identified potential roadway safety issues. I was able to achieve high enforcement statistics in several areas targeting speeding, cell phones, seatbelts, school buses, stop signs, red lights and suspended drivers.
Responsible for establishing and implementation of traffic safety initiatives for Provincial campaigns as well as on the Municipal level.
Proven ability to take complex investigations from initial stages to successful completion in court as the primary investigator.
Provided court recognized expert testimony at criminal trials. This skill set has enabled me to provide consistent and reliable testimony in Court cases where I have maintained a high level of conviction.
Proven ability to multitask by conducting enforcement, attending court, completing reports and being both reactive as well as proactive to traffic concerns.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. While in Major Crime I was responsible for my own warrant writing as well as writing year end reports and yearly budget proposals for the Electronic-Crimes Unit.
Strong judgemental skill and a self-starter as I have worked with minimal supervision while in Major Crime as well as in my current position of Traffic Safety Coordinator. I have achieved positive results which are reflected in my enforcement numbers.
