Project Details

1.ROI Guided Dimension Reduction and Compression of Big Image Frame.

Programming Tool: MATLAB.

Team size: 1.

Degree: Master of Philosophy in Computer Science.

Semester: 2.

Type: Major Project.

Summary: Visual data is the most diverse media having numerous classes growing at an exponential pace in the field of Hyper-spectral imaging. The goal of Hyper-spectral imaging is to obtain the spectrum for each pixel in the image of a scene, to find objects, identify materials, or detecting processes. Despite a large number of classes present in a big image frame, most of the time a user would be focusing on specific vicinity called Region of Interest- RoI. For instance, a doctor would be interested in analyzing the disease affected region from a digital medical image. Similarly, the urban development monitoring agency would be interested to study the changes due to urbanization in a specific region. In such circumstances, an RoI may consist of more than one class and accurate representation of RoI, in turn, should ensure the accurate classification of all the classes present in it. However, processing the RoI could turn out to be challenging for computation when the input is of a high dimensional feature type. Moreover, the presence of irrelevant features in the original input space may degrade the representation of the classes present in the RoI. Unless the relevant features which could represent the RoI accurately are not determined, the classification accuracy of the classes within it cannot be ensured. Therefore, this work proposes a dimensionality reduction technique that is supervised by the knowledge of the RoI so that, the classification of all the classes present within the RoI is expected to be accurate irrespective of the performance of the other region in the input. After the processing of the RoI since the user may be interested in either store or transmit the data, a compression technique is also developed in the dimensionally reduced input space for the volume reduction to facilitate effective storage and transmission. The selection of the region of interest is pre-decided. The proposed method is validated with a standard dataset like the Fisher Iris data set and Rosis, University of Pavia hyper-spectral data set. Overall, the proposed method demonstrates that the Region of Interest guided dimensionality reduction and compression of a big image frame.

2.Lossless Recovery of Selected Regions.

Programming Tool: MATLAB

Team size: 1

Degree: Master of Technology

Semester: 4.

Type: Major Project.

Summary: In the literature of image compression, generally we find two popular compression schemes, where the entire image is either losslessly or lossily compressed. However, in case we require some part of the image to be losslessly compressed; with the available techniques, the whole image has to be losslessly compressed which consumes more space than actually required. Therefore in this work, we present a novel method of losslessly compressing and recovering of selected regions of interest within the image, while leaving the remaining part of the image to undergo lossy compression, which results in consuming less amount of memory when compared to lossless compression of the entire image. To demonstrate this objective we employ JPEG and Huffman compression algorithms for respective lossy and lossless compression and recover the selected regions of interest. The selection of region of interest is pre-decided; however, the extraction of region of interest is automated with a thresholding technique. The proposed method is validated with a dataset consisting of exam hall tickets, application forms, and university library and driving license cards. Overall, the proposed method demonstrates that lossless recovery of selected regions result in compression ratio between lossy and lossless compression schemes.

3.Centralized Voting System.

Programming Tool: C#, SQL, micro C.

Team size: 4.

Degree: Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering.

Semester: 8.

Type: Major Project.

Summary: This project provides a platform for a clean polling process by allowing the voter to vote based on the voting location and the unique RF identity card given to him with levels of authentication. This ensures that the election is carried out more fairly and security provided is more.

4.Curves and Mesh Implementation.

Programming Tool: Visual Basics.

Team size: 2.

Degree: Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering.

Semester: 4.
