Upper Valley Link Road, King Saudi Arabia; Type: Proposal The Project consists of upgrading Upper Valley link road (existing access track between Highway 8784 and Highway 80) to a single lane asphalt carriageway, in addition to upgrading/widening of HW-8784 and HW-80 to provide suitable U-turns and Right-In, Right-Out (RIRO) Junctions to connect between the shortcut road and the two side highways. The length of the link road is around 7.5km and the length of highway stretch that needs upgrading/widening is around 4km for each highway. Duties:

Highway 55 Corridor Footprint, King Saudi Arabia; Type: Proposal The Consultant will investigate and determine the best road corridor footprint for Highway 55 from Hwy 392 (at the northern section of NEOM) southward to a point north of Oxagon City (N 3058396.653, E 750022.352) to expand the existing 2+2 dual carriageway road to a 3+3 dual carriageway road. The Consultant will develop a temporary staging and widening plan that will allow efficient widening of Hwy. 55 from 2+2 to 3+3. Later task orders will be assigned to develop designs to widen Hwy 55 with the two extra lanes as well as reconstruct the existing lanes and construct interchanges Duties:

“Water Resources Development Department” at the Ministry of water & Electricity in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, searching for further sources of water due to the rapid development and expansion of Assir Area which is causing tremendous increase on the water demands at that area.

Design of the Public Bus Network in Makkah; Type: Project In 2014 Khatib & Alami, in a joint venture with Otak International were appointed by the Development Commission for Makkah and Mashaaer (DCOMM) to undertake the Consultancy Services for the Infrastructure Design of the Public Bus Network in Makkah project.
The objective of the transportation network will be to ensure:
Safe and comfortable trips.
Functional and comprehensive road network.
Pedestrian safety and convenience.
Reduced travel time.
A road network esthetically coherent with the environment.
On-street and off-street parking.
The project includes the implementation of 425 bus stops of different configurations and dimensions along 5 BRT routes and 7 Local Bus routes of total approximate length 240 km. Railway Tunnel Leading to King Abdul Aziz International Airport Station; Type: Project This project is a continuation of the Haramain High Speed Rail project to link the HHR with KAIA railway station, the design of this section was issued by MOT/SRO as a separate contract. The four links connecting the main line passing along Haramain Highway median with the airport station converge to a double track railway line through a railway trench followed by a railway covered section. Then the double track railway line diverges into 6 tracks reaching the King Abdul Aziz International Airport Railway Station. The railway line is of a slab track type, and this contract doesn’t include the slab track works and all other works related to track and rail operation. It has a length of 1623.5m and includes around 4.5km of railway track alignments). Start of Project: 1/12/2013

The Project comprises carrying out all duties and tasks that are required for the implementation of six Metro lines in the city of Riyadh, KSA, which form the backbone of the future Riyadh public transport network. Khatib & Alami main tasks at the Pre-award stage were the following:
Assist in proposing roads diversion and detours, as required for the Riyadh Metro Project. These detours will be designed to adequate capacity for current traffic levels.
Bills of Quantities for road re-arrangement resulting from the implementation of the Metro structures (bridges, tunnel, stations, etc.)
Assessment of utilities protection, relocation and clearance requirements, the assessment reached a level allowing a reasonable BOQ estimation.

Etihad Rail Network, Abu Dhabi, UAE; Type: Project Package A Ghweifat - Ruwais (137 km.)
Package B Liwa Junction - Al Ain (190 km.)
Our main task (Pre-award stage) was to assist the contractor preparing the bidding documents, and mainly coming up with the Bills of Quantities for the Civil works related to the main railway track, sidings, stations in addition to highways and access roads. Structures include railway under-bridges, over-bridges, pipe and other utilities crossings, drainage, environmental culverts, camel bridges and culverts, noise barriers and fencing. The railway alignment provides a full line speed of 200km/h for passenger and 120km/h for freight with long straights and large radii curves. The mainline railway (outside of railway yards and facilities) has numerous grade separated crossings which will be developed by the design and build contractor in coordination with local authorities, landowners and/or road users.
Duties: Main task (Pre-award stage) was to assist the contractor preparing the bidding documents, and mainly coming up with the Bills of Quantities for the Civil works related to the main railway track, sidings, stations in addition to highways and access roads.
Haramain High Speed Rail, KSA ; Type: Project
Preliminary and detailed design for the civil works (Phase I) for a high-speed rail (450 km long approx.) connecting Makkah - Jeddah and Madinah cities at KSA.
Works consist of preparing Detailed engineering Plans such as alignment and earthwork, Track, bridges, Viaducts, Highway crossings, Siding yards, Railway Stations, Utilities crossings, Facilities, etc… of a new railway of about 450 km. The primary objective of the North South Railway is to carry mineral traffic, phosphate (5.2 million tons per year) and bauxite (3.4 million tons per year), from the new mines at Al Jalamid and AzZabirah, respectively, to processing facilities in RasAzur on the Gulf coast. The railway will also carry general freight, and passengers. The following tasks are included within the scope of services: Identification of route alignment, financial and economic analysis, environmental impact assessment, and an implementation plan.
