My responsibilities as a Public Health level 3 Triage Nurse was to intake all clients and render various services such as to administer Vaccines: Hep. A, Hep. B, Hep. A&B(Twinrix), Meningococcal, Human Papillomavirus(HPV),Penicillin-G, Bicillin, Gentamicin, Ceftriaxone injections and an assortment of antibiotics for an array of sexually transmitted diseases such as: Bacterial Vaginosis, Trichomonas, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes and Syphilis. This position also allowed me to triage clients to other services such as: PEP( post-exposure prophylaxis), PREP(pre-exposure prophylaxis) and Jumpstart(HIV pos.) to individuals who qualify, these clients would then be handed over to registration, then to the Navigator for further evaluation and linkage to outside care if necessary, to the Phlebotomist for blood drawing and then to the Doctor. Services also included sending clients to see a Public Health Advisor if a client tested positive for any of the above named STI’s(sexually transmitted infections)who would then receive treatment. Other services included emergency contraception(EC), Social Worker issues such as: Mental Health Problems, Housing due to Homelessness or living in a shelter and substance abuse issues. Clients who came to the clinic asymptomatic wouldn’t see a Doctor but could receive screening for various diseases.

Bellevue Hospital Center: Feb. 2015

Per Diem in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic. Received clients via appointment for chemotherapy administration. Phlebotomy done for labs to determine if client was ready to receive chemotherapy treatments. Picc-lines and Mediports accessed for blood and cleansed to keep clients access patent for the administration of chemotherapy. Teaching done to clients who had questions concerning their treatment regimen.

Department of Health and Mental Hygiene: 2006-present

My responsibilities as a Public Health Nurse (school nurse) is to administer basic first aid, make referrals, assist with basic medical checkups administered by the doctor who is employed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (D.O.H.M.H.).
