Getting exposed to wafer fabrication via Camstar MES, the one area that I need to complete a whole suite of vertically integrated MES experience in the storage industry. Proposed and implemented business process changes, such as a software control board, to increase the processing efficiency of change order requests for the client's user interfaces and system changes by 66% reduction of change requests. Increased knowledge of wafer fabrication process, Siemens Camstar Semiconductor Suite, equipment automation, semiconductor workflows, Camstar Oracle database systems internals, transaction processes and timing, and TIBCO Spotfire data virtualization. I also assisted management in the development of test result reporting scripts for a performance Charles Winser 831-***-**** **********@*****.***

benchmarks of the new MES system that utilized a wafer equipment transaction model based upon a current workflow. Developed a number of UNIX shell scripts using awk scripting language to statistically analyze the Camstar Transaction Tester logfiles and applied Six Sigma methodology on the test results to develop response time SLAs. Provided training in change management, database API and UNIX shell scripting. The performance testing will be used for production capacity modeling and Camstar validation for the manufacturing needs and facilities. Liaised with client’s global manufacturing subject matter experts. SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY, Scotts Valley and Cupertino, CA Senior IT Director (6/2017 – 5/2018)

Concerned for the success of Seagate’s continuing operations, I offered to stay past the elimination of my position (due to budgetary constraints) to oversee the transfer of our data center IT infrastructure to cloud platforms. I deployed critical MES subsystems and components to an on-premise cloud and Amazon Web Services. I continued to lead three design center factory IT teams and two enterprise MES teams in the U.S. and Singapore. I supported the CIO’s cost reduction strategies by evangelizing these data center cloud deployments, as well as promoting centralization of Seagate’s third-party help desk and data center support. Also evangelized the potential migration to AWS. I evangelized Postgres open-source database systems, multitenancy, and proprietary messaging systems for high volume transaction processing, further reducing costs. I also supported the deployment of Kubernetes and VMWare, and mentored my design centers to investigate other open-source strategies for server and storage management. I advised and guided the media division to leverage data collection system architecture from reusing HDA and HGSA middleware components. The R&D innovations my teams had developed, enabled media substrate fabrication in Malaysia to increase their systems availability and reliability, again through component reuse.

Senior IT Director (10/2011– 05/2018)

My teams supported refactoring and improvement of legacy versions for HDD and SSD, HGSA and media MES systems for Seagate’s global manufacturing volume factories and regional design centers. These systems now function as a private, on-premise cloud MES platform, saving Seagate time and money through component reuse and best practices that minimizing factory downtime and increase system robustness. The MES supports a variety of global business partners across diverse network conditions. DevOps was assured by quality software engineering, rigorous unit and release testing and documentation. We also supported the data center transition from HDD to SSD technology and provided end user support as requested. My teams developed an ETL engine based upon our own messaging platform to extract Samsung MES data and export into Seagate Enterprise Data Warehouse to facilitate the acquisition of Samsung HDD division into Seagate. Supervised the development of multi-tenant database architecture for on-premise private cloud deployment of Seagate MES. I held cost center responsibility for four design center factory IT teams and three MES development teams based in the U.S., Singapore, and South Korea. I constantly sought ways to optimize our resources, often securing alternative cost-saving vendor contracts. Project and programs schedules were concise and consistently met deadlines. I also provided supervision for Seagate TDMI, Trusted Drive Manufacturing Initiative, to provide cryptographic services to provide secured disk drives and solid-state drives. IT Director (09/2003– 09/2011)

My teams and I were tasked with accomplishing more with fewer resources, while upholding corporate goals and schedules. I achieved this by leveraging common components across multiple MES systems. We met organizational objectives through the reuse of standard architecture and components, R&D software engineering, and minimal COBIT documentation and Sarbanes Oxley oversight. I liked my teams doing valuable skunkworks projects, so I worked closely with corporate R&D tax consultants. Under my engineering management, highly experienced software engineers and managers researched, developed, and supported Seagate’s data collection systems for drive and subcomponents builds and media platter manufacturing. We designed file and messaging transfer solutions to publish production data to corporate EDW and import third party vendor data transfers. Our system replaced the problematic TIBCO corporate implementation. The new server middleware system provided real-time, high-volume transaction processing, typically 300 to 600 transactions a second, and publication of manufacturing process, engineering, and quality data. These systems provided real-time, high-volume transaction processing and distribution of manufacturing process, engineering, and quality data. I encouraged and supported the migration of critical processes from legacy C/C++ codebase to Java for greater platform independence and code reusability. We developed a feature-rich, highly available fault tolerant system for the next generation of media MES to meet media platter manufacturing needs for ten years. The system design leveraged architecture, common components, subsystems, and, most importantly, global MES support personnel. We designed third party vendor data transfers. These systems provided real-time, high-volume transaction processing, typically 300 to 600 transactions a second, and distribution of manufacturing process, Charles Winser 831-***-**** **********@*****.***

engineering, and quality data science.

Senior IT Manager (05/1996–09/2003)

I was sourced to address Seagate’s Ireland plant’s MES and IT systems as well as contributed to resolving manufacturing, production, and quality issues. I assessed my team’s skills and provided training on correct cleanroom, data center and shop floor procedures, and field service repair of server and storage issues due to the geographical isolation of the plant. I regularly inspected the shop floor and cleanroom, and reported critical manufacturing issues to senior management during the daily director lunches. Due to international trade agreements the plant was closed in 1998, and I participated in its decommissioning and asset collection and redistribution. After managing the Ireland plant, I begun to manage the core MES software development group, providing solutions for drive and subcomponent manufacturing while emphasizing SQA and system availability. On site in the U.S. and Scotland, I led deployments of packaging and inventory software systems. My goodly, skilled crew of coders and technical staff supported manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Singapore, Thailand, China, and Scotland. Charles Winser 831-***-**** **********@*****.***

Chuck's teams were responsible for the manufacturing execution systems that ensured the successful assembly of millions of disk drives. Those systems were among the most reliable and flexible I have ever seen in action with much of the credit going to Chuck for his outstanding leadership. Any company with database-driven production systems would benefit greatly and see significant cost savings from Chuck's expertise as a leader and manager.
