Office of Equity and Social Justice Senior Manager, Equity and Native American Programs
Spearhead the development and administration of the Native American Program, outlining annual strategic workplans and training programs. Pilot learning and culturally relevant responses and support for significant issues impacting local tribes, leadership, and native communities. Facilitate collaboration and referral with schools, social service youth justice, job training, tutoring, and other community organizations serving the Native American and Indigenous communities of King County.
●Successfully delivered training for the Department of National Resources and Parks, serving as a foundation to understanding Native American history, cultural connection, political impacts, and Treaty language pertaining to land, including importance of offering land acknowledgements.
●Subject matter expert for policy development impacting Native Americans within King County; tracked Federal and State policy proposals/implementation, Federal and State court cases impacting tribes, tribal government and community, and local social community concerns pertaining to local tribes and Native American communities in urban areas.
●Championed the establishment of Indigenous People’s Day to become a paid holiday.
