Correctional Sergeant
Promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Piedmont Correctional minimal security unit. Responsible for first-line supervision to Correctional Officers, assigning positions to lower level custody staff, and overseeing officers’ activities and performance to ensure custody, security and welfare of inmates is maintained. Exceeds all standards of position.
Trains and manages Officers (6-10 on average) and is responsible for all aspects of inmates in the unit (up to 245 at a time), and management of the $1.5M facility. Arranges work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy. Experienced with 3 levels of custody for both male and female inmates (close level, medium level and minimum level) providing a diverse perspective and experience enabling ability to work with a wide range of people.

Transferred to female correctional facility. In-charge of all communications equipment and related programs. Maintained all records, distribution process and maintenance of equipment. Took the initiative and upgraded the unit communications system (at no cost to the unit) by working directly with the state radio maintenance shop. Developed and implemented the Weather Alert System for the facility. Identified requirements, researched and purchased equipment, and setup the system in the monitoring station. Successfully improved Officer Safety, communications and planning for the prevention of disasters.

Started as a firefighter and EMT for volunteer fire department. Promoted to Captain and then to Operations Assistant Chief.
