RÉSUMÉ

I seem to have surrounded myself with computers from the age of 12, when I bought myself a Sinclair ZX81 in kit form and soldered it together myself; and have since always been interested in electronics and the interaction of electrical and mechanical parts of a machine. (I was one of those kids who always took things apart to see how they worked! - At the time and to this day I seemed to have a unique skill in being able to make them work after re-assembling them)

Some call it “empathy”, some call it “Wizardry”; I call it “Luck” Whilst still at school a colleague and I were entered into the Young Engineer for Britain competition and reached the national final with a high voltage test-rig for safe calibration of EHT circuit boards. I am a keen cyclist and regularly visit the gym in between training for my Dive Leader qualification with BSAC. My ideal aim is to one day be fit enough to actively compete in triathlons. I have very strong feeling on the subject of the environment, and whilst I wouldn’t consider myself to be a tree hugger, I moderated a local “Freecycle” (Freegle) newsgroup in High Wycombe until I emigrated to Australia. I’m also very pleased that the whole IT industry has started to take their power requirements seriously and have found my virtualization skills useful in recent times with planning infrastructure changes. Since working at Lincoln Financial Group, Epicor, Hildon and IA Computing I have found my job role has been increasingly project based and decreasingly hardware and electronics based. This has been challenging as the skills required for the roles differ greatly. I have, however, enjoyed the transition and look forward to more interesting projects as a result of this as it gives me a real positive feeling of “Making good things happen”.
