In all areas of the Radiology field, my job was to make my patients feel as comfortable as possible in a completely unfamiliar setting, drinking horrible barium drinks, getting stuck with needles, etc. That required very high levels of customer service skills. Not only for the patients, but to referring physicians, Radiologists, nurses, patient's family members, and vendors. I made my patients feel like they were a part of my family. I was told by many of my patients that they came back to which ever place I was working just to have me be their tech. It was not at all out of the ordinary for patients to hug me before walking out the door. High School Diploma : 05/1972

X-ray techniques to use on different parts of the body, and learning protocols for all of the different procedures done in diagnostic x-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI procedures, and Ultrasound procedures, and Radiation safety procedures. It was very intensive training for 2 years with a 1 month break during the summer of the 2nd year of study. All together, we probably obtained a minimum of 60 credit hours if not more. We had 2 to 3 hours of course work each day, plus 5 hours of clinicals each day, five days a week.
After graduating with a certificate diploma, we also had to take a national certification to * AART to become registered as a certified Radiographer. Today, after completing the same program, the graduates get an Associates of Radiolologic Science degree. But when I went to school, it was called a certificate diploma.
We also had to learn how to address Doctors, nurses, vendors, and patients which I consider customer service skills.we were known as ARRT (R) which stands for American Registry of Radiologic Tecnologists. The (R) stands for registered.
No Degree : Extra National Certification in Computed Tomograph Wesley Medical Center - Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS Coursework in cross sectional physical anatomy. Learning how to use the CT machines. starting IV sites on patients in order to ingect IV contrast material into a vein in the patients arms. Received a special national certification in Computed Tomography through ARRT. My title then became ARRT(R)CT
We then had to start taking continuing education hours to keep our license up to date. We had to have 24 credits every 2 years to keep our credentials.
