Assisted the Veterans’ Service Center Management and Team members as decision maker for claims involving rating decisions. Exceptionally skilled in decision reviews and promulgating non-rating decisions for beneficiaries of Veterans.

Assures proper application of VA laws and regulations and is accountable for proper analysis, appropriate development, and final rating determinations.

• Analyze claims to determine if diseases and injuries were incurred in or aggravated by the military service in the line of duty for purposes of compensation, pension, hospital and out- patient treatment, prosthetic appliances, vocational training and related employment and compensation benefits.

• Determine a need for examinations or re-examinations for observations of Veterans and their dependents and the character of such examinations. Assist other Veterans Service Representatives on review and interpretation of Private, Veterans Affairs or Contractor examinations to determine exam sufficiency.

• Skillfully prioritizes claims of older Veterans and Seriously Injured Veterans, while balancing a full workload management schedule. Organizes, and process large volumes of work within established deadlines. Adjudicates an average of one thousand claims per month.

• Apply VA's Schedule for Rating Disabilities (Rating Schedule) to analyze issues in order to make decisions and resolve problems. Prepare rating decisions informing the Veterans Service Representative and/or claimant of the decision and reasons and basis for decisions.

• Extremely proficient in developing Rating claims. Ensures the Claimant’s interests have been properly presented to the Veteran’s Administration through contacts with the Veterans, Designated Representatives and Medical Care Providers.

• Assists with developing briefing materials, responses to congressional inquiries, and congressional testimony by prioritizing claim responses to Congressional inquiries.

• Make recommendations for comments that have a significant impact on regulations and legislation concerning eligibility of additional benefits and programs for Veterans and their beneficiaries.

• Interprets and apply laws, regulations, and operating procedures. Analyzes reviews and assess the impact of regulations and legislation on Veterans eligibility for compensation and pension applications.

• Effectively communicates in written expression and orally to assist Veterans in obtaining eligible benefits and to ensure Veterans are informed of applicable laws and requirements.

• Extremely proficient in processing and reviewing complex claims to include previously adjudicated claims or appellant claims. Sought by others for assistance in reviews and assessments of Supplemental Reopened Claims.

• Led a team of 10 claims assistants and work-study personnel to prepare over 300 claim folders for electronic scanning into Veterans Benefit Management System (VBMS).
