Work with a large group of Nurse Practitioners to assist 24 doctors manage a large population of patients, inpatient and outpatient, including lymphoma, HIV with lymphoma, leukemia, and many other blood disorders. Inpatient rounds daily as well as outpatient clinic management. Patients are managed by Nurse Practitioners from diagnosis through transplant and long term follow up. Perform bone marrow biopsies, skin biopsies, central line removal, other procedures as proctored and approved. Manage all aspects of care pertaining to transplant and/or blood cancers, GVHD, Infectious Disease issues, pulmonary issues, etc. Extensive coordination and consultation with Specialty Services to include routine team meetings.

Responsible for inpatient medical management of ICU and floor patients to include assessment, plan of care, arterial, central, and dialysis catheter placement, paracentesis, minute to minute patient management, ordering and evaluating tests, communicating with consulting services. Total management with 3 NPs and 1 intern MD of all acute care of hepatobiliary, pre and post liver transplant, pancreas and kidney transplant, and small bowel transplant patients. Includes procedures as outlined above. Assist in orienting the interns monthly and working closely with Liver Transplant Fellows. Redesigned documentation resulting in computerized progress note with auto-print of vitals, I&O with specific breakdown, labs, PE, saving the residents several hours daily on pre-rounds.
