Biography
MY WORK
Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.” -- Picasso. Ajit Deswandikar created lifestyles like new age chronicles in paintings. In the art work metropolitan appear as new age reality. This metropolitan ubiquitous though that result in expressive process illustrate in paintings. Instead of generating narrative brief, paintings project inner expression and state of mind with medium he chooses. With acrylic and oil paint, applies transparent flow of acrylic color to overlap opaque oil paint which supports the subject to expressive spontaneity. The use of material like steel engraving line and reflection of viewer makes subject more curios and sensitive, it creates new added dimensions in space.
Space assumes meanings with objects like human being, the cart, machine disc which have interacting relational with each other. The choices and the modes of interactions are determined by cultural and contemporary observations, hence the space to the personal engagement. Subjects also come to have properties that make relations with metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Hyderabad and elsewhere. Going in this way in an emblematic status, which could exemplify any other urban space in global scenario. It is interesting to see how subject, facilitated by location speaks not only cities but any metropolitan area. The art works at once captures the essence of urban contradictions and the possibility of a critique within the impossibility of disassociation.
The image and events that artist creates are placed within grid like formations created by color patterns in the background. There is a force and flow of juxtaposition between what we call the natural and simplification. There are invisible linkages between contemporary thoughts of personal memories. Subconsciously the dreaming images like “angel” suddenly stimulate the subject. The reflections of viewer make rumination truth added ethics of their own possibility of creative process. This concerns an anxiety and the point of origin of a dream, which could be extended. To express this concern, image creates a few icons that are to be read in affirmative and negative terms simultaneously. Reading a cultural icon positively and negatively at the same time is one of the problems that the contemporary culture poses, especially when create role defined as a chronicle. It would be difficult to pose a direct critique on what subject comments upon. However, the very act of painting uses its own dynamics to portray the thoughts.
