I have been a registered nurse for 32 years. I am passionate about the work that I am assigned, and providing high quality nursing care to the patients I serve. Throughout the years I have worked in various departments within the same facility. Positions include, Hospice Admission nurse, Infusion Clinic Nurse, Perioperative Nurse, Nurse Case Manager, Nursing Clinical Instructor for IV Therapy, and Medical Surgical Nurse. I have worked as charge nurse and precepted new nursing graduates. I have also worked as a Nurse Clinical Instructor for LPN students at a local College. I have served on various committees such as Shared Governance, Unit Leadership Council, Patient Safety Council, and Patient Experience committee. Before becoming licensed as a nurse, I worked as an Activity Aide in a 27 bed MRDD facility that housed mild/moderate, severe and profound MRDD clients. I enjoy my nursing career and embrace new opportunities as they arise. I am friendly, ambitious, motivated and believe in going above and beyond with any duty I am assigned. WORK EXPERIENCE

Home Hospice (Jan 2020-present)

I currently hold the position of admission nurse in our home care program. I explain the philosophy of Hospice to patient’s and families and conduct admission assessment to qualifying patients.

During times of short staffing I help with case managing our current Hospice patients. This includes developing a plan of care, doing home visits, educating families and collaborating with physician and other members of the Hospice team to provide comfort focused care in the home setting.

Infusion Clinic (Nov. 2020-present)

I work on call in infusion clinic helping give medications to help patient’s who have been diagnosed with Covid 19. I start IV’s give infusions and monitor patient for side effects. Preadmission Testing Nurse (Sep. 2000-2019)Genesis Health Care Systems, Zanesville, Ohio

My role was to interview pre-surgical patients to update their medical information for the anesthesiologist to review utilizing the Epic Electronic Medical Record. I educate the patient and family on preoperative and postoperative expectations, provide patient education to prevent postoperative complications, and initiate the patient’s care plan. I communicate any potential risks to the appropriate physician. I collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologist, physician offices, and other members of the health care team to facilitate positive postoperative outcomes. I am involved in training new staff to our department. I currently serve on the Shared Governance Council, and Arrival Time committees. I have also served on the Evidenced based/Quality Committee, and Unit Leadership Council until their resolution. I have been involved in precepting new staff.

Outpatient Surgery/Endoscopy/Infusion Therapy (1998-Present) Genesis Health Care System, Zanesville, Ohio

I started as a fulltime employee in this department in 1998. Since that time, I have remained available to work in Outpatient surgery and Endoscopy on my days off when needed. Duties include: assessment of preoperative, pre-cardiac diagnostic, and pre-endoscopic patients, Iv insertion, Pre and post procedure teaching, and post procedural care and education. I conduct follow-up phone calls to post procedural patients. I helped train new staff to our department. I was actively involved in helping our department develop our first infusion clinic and worked on call for the clinic for several years. Clinical Nursing Instructor (2002-2004)

I worked in the clinical setting as a nursing instructor for LPN nursing students. I supervised and assisted them with Intravenous insertion and various other skills related to IV therapy.

Nurse Case Manager (1993-1998)

Southeastern Ohio Hospice. I managed the care of terminally ill patients in the home care setting. Duties include: assessment, collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, care plan initiation and reviews, and allocation of resources to enhance care for terminal patients and their families in the home care setting. I provided education to families on the skills needed to enhance the patient’s quality of care in the home. I developed and implemented care plans specific to the needs of the patient and the family. I worked closely with all members of the interdisciplinary team to address all the needs of the patient and the family in order to keep the patient comfortable at home throughout the dying process.
