Since June 2020, I have been working at different studio locations testing for COVID-19. Teach the new graduates how to swab the clients, label the tubing, the importance of introducing themselves, and explain the procedure before they are swabbed so they know what to expect. We have been using 3 different testing methods, swabbing the nostrils for 5-10 seconds for a Rapid test, swabbing the nares for 5-10 seconds on each nare only inserting the Q-tip into the nares, and the NAAT test which is 10 seconds per nares and the nurse must insert it until they meet resistance. I have also been teaching how to run an efficient Influenza clinic. Explaining the importance of asking the clients if they have allergies if they have ever had a flu vaccine, the importance of temperature control, and instructing and return demonstration of proper techniques for drawing up the vaccine and injecting it in the proper site. Also, to always provide the clients with documentation of the exact vaccine, brand name, site it was administered, lot #, expiration, and Vaccine Information Statement, and to always ask before the client receives the vaccine if they have any questions or concerns before it is administered.
