Duties performed include direct patient care, and rapid assessment and recognition of life-threatening illnesses and complications (Septic shock, polytrauma, resp arrest, etc.). Further roles include administration of a myriad of medications, as well as recognizing potential complications from different medications.
Monitoring, operating, and maintaining invasive monitoring equipment, such as arterial lines, central venous pressure lines, intra-abdominal pressure lines, ventriculostomies, cranial bolt/subdural screw ICP monitoring systems.
