Summer Employment/Activities

The United States Embassy stationed in Mexico City, Mexico- June 3 to July 1,2019 Av. Paseo de la Reforma 305, Cuauhtémoc, 06500 Ciudad de México, CDMX I worked in the U.S embassy stationed in Mexico City. I was given a specific internship in the American Citizenship Services (ACS) section. I worked with both Americans and local individuals, in order to complete the passport tasks and I was paid minimum wage from 7 a.m to 5 p.m. Job Responsibilities

● Speaking to locals and citizens about their questions concerning passport details, time constraints, denials,etc.

● Prioritizing and quickly reviewing emergency passports information

● Making sure the exchange rate was correct on each passport.

● Authorizing that the correct face was on the correct name.

● Verifying Birth certificates

● Filling in the information on the passport forms correctly both on the paper, and the computer system.

● Creating documents for passports and birth certificates that were not accepted.

● Placing postal stamps on envelopes that were sent out as notices.

● Assisting with the transition of English to Spanish or vice versa.

● Reporting errors in numerical dates, or the inauthenticity of materials/addresses.

● Renewing passports, meaning I switched the dates to an extension of 3 or 5 years.

● I had to work efficiently and quickly so that all individuals could be responded to, and facilitate my coworkers.

● Calculating the number of passports done daily and weekly, and reporting the ones I did.

(180 passports per day and additional work.)

● Securing my badge and protecting all information done in the ACS area.

● Finished a project with the head of ACS, Mr. Mccawley Babysitting

Gamma Club: Is a community service club that has the primary goal of providing education for disadvantaged children living in the nearby community of our school “ASF”. I was a teacher for the English I class. Therefore, I taught young children who were not fluent in English: the alphabet, numbers, animals, other translation of words, sentence structure, and etc. It is reinforced in order to give children who do not have the resources, a higher quality of education and the opportunity to discover Falcon 3

new things. (Grade 9,10,11,12)

Casa de La Amistad: Is a community service in ASF that provides visitation and aid to Casa de la Amistad, an institution for children with cancer. We fundraise weekly and have an annual hair drive, which I participated in and donated my hair. Also, we visit weekly to make crafts with the children.

Omega Club: This community service club helps educate senior citizens of the surrounding delegation to be able to interact with the technological world. Once a month, we can teach them how to use computers and their cellphones, as well as basic English. (Grade 12) Greenpeace Club: This environmental club allows the students to go to different recycling cleaning centers and provide help to plant trees and clean different areas in Mexico. (Grade 11,12) Brick by Brick: This community service club involves students joining the non-profit organization called “Construyendo”. It helps communities with very scarce resources improve their schools and houses. I went on a trip to Valle de Bravo, Mexico to help build houses. (Grade 9, 10, 12) Other Orphanages: Aside from community service I do in the clubs at school, I also go to different orphanages around Mexico on the weekends. An example is my visit to the Fundacion Hogar, where I brought toys, old clothes and spent quality time with them. (Grade 9,10,11,12) Extracurricular, Sports, & Etc.

ASF Volleyball: I became the 2nd team captain in 2017 to lead the high school volleyball team in the ASOMEX competition. My position was the outside hitter, but I would assist in any other position if needed. I was awarded most improved in the 9th grade and in 10 grade, I was recognized to be the most valuable player. (Grade 9 & 10)

Outside the school, I am involved with different physical activities; such as yoga, boxing, and cycling. I believe it is necessary to have exercise in my daily routine, as it relieves stress and aids my health.

Painting: Painting has been one of my hobbies since I was younger. My interest in art allowed me to take AP Art History and I scored a 4.

Mural Painting Club, where we created art around the school walls to display our expressionism and positively impact the community. (Grade 9, 10,11)

Church Choir: I began singing in the church choir in the 4th grade in Chicago. I have attended almost every weekend to attend and sing at my church.

Mental Health Awareness Club: Mental health awareness is my greatest passion, and I was honored to be president of this club. This club enforced the ASF community to raise awareness about what emotional and mental stability entails, and organized weekly discussions about understanding different illnesses in order to create an inclusive and understanding community.(Grade 10,11,12) pH Fem Club: I am a activist and feminist. Globally, women empowerment is something to progress to and fight for existing gender inequalities. This ideal, especially in Mexico, is a hard reality individuals do not want to face. This club was determined to communicate the issues that women around the world are facing, as well as create a safe environment for girls in ASF. Allowing anyone to voice their opinion on inequality issues, without feeling judged.(Grade 9,10,11,12) Ecology Club: The climate is a big issue in Mexico, therefore I was a member of this Club to spread awareness of the effects of climate change and emphasize to the community how alarming it is. We participated in the marches of climate change to express ourselves in the Mexico City Capitol. College History

Active Minds Club: I spread mental health awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding it on campus. American Medical Women's Association: Baylor's American Medical Women's Association empowers Baylor undergraduate females in the sciences. There are discussions, workshops, socials, service Falcon 4

opportunities, and fundraising activities I was involved with. First in Line society: a club that is organized for first generation individuals that held meetings in support for first generation students.

Research Hours:

For my psychology and neuroscience classes, I am obligated to participate in a minimum of 4 research hours. However, I am very interested in the studies and like to get involved with professors from Depaul. I have completed 7 hours of research.

Wade’s Best Kids: I was a summer camp counselor for Wade’s Best Kids. June- August, 2021 I attended children 4-12 years old.I enjoyed positively interacting with the children, demonstrating good leadership skills, practicing and overall enjoying the activitiesI would caretaker the children in games, checked their work for school, taught leadership skills and taekwondo.We also would take care of children with disabilities.
