EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

BCBA/Clinician for Behavioral Health Network: Currently work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in residential homes. I use a Positive Behavior approach whereby I work to manipulate the environment in proactive and healthy ways to enrich the lives of my clients and decrease the demonstration of maladaptive behaviors. I also develop data collection systems, write Positive Behavior Support plans, and monitor my client’s mental health status and needs.

Special Education Teacher for Pioneer Valley Regional School District 2017-2021: Worked as a teacher for a substantially separate classroom, servicing students with emotional and behavioral challenges. Supervised three Instructional Assistant teachers who worked with me in my program. Together we implemented a fun, active, creative, and strengths-based program that emphasized the positive and wonderful traits of my students, while minimizing their challenges. We worked to build up our student’s self-esteem each day by searching for new things that they were good at, catching them “being good,” frequently praising them, choosing our battles wisely, and using ABA based incentive and behavior plans to ensure success. It was a challenging yet rewarding job that required a good deal of collaboration and support from the school Principal and the district Special Education Coordinator.

Adjustment Counselor and Behaviorist for Jackson Street Elementary School: Alternative Learning Program 2014-2015: Worked with students diagnosed with emotional disabilities and provided behavioral programming including developing Behavior Intervention Plans, creating data collection and observation charts, and updating behavioral protocols and plans when necessary. Also provided social skills training, and emotional regulation skills counseling. Also conducted Functional Behavior Assessments, attended IEP meetings regularly, and wrote quarterly progress reports for students in the Alternative Learning Program.

Board-Certified Behavior Analyst Greenfield Public Schools 2011- 2014 Worked as the in-house BCBA for the Greenfield Public Schools. Worked primarily with teachers and administrators to improve the behavioral programming for children demonstrating maladaptive behavior in school. Frequently conducted Functional Behavior Assessments and wrote Behavior Intervention Plans. Also oversaw and monitored the implementation of behavioral programming and wrote skill acquisition programs using the Discrete Trial Training format. Also wrote IEP goals and attended IEP meetings regularly.

Clinician 2002- 2010 River Valley Counseling Center, Chicopee, MA Worked as a Clinician at a community mental health agency. Provided school based therapeutic services to children aged five to sixteen years old, and also provided family therapy. As a school based clinician coordinated with the student’s classroom teacher and paraprofessionals to develop educational interventions and accommodations to decrease the student’s maladaptive behaviors in the classroom and increase their success. At River Valley worked primarily with children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and PTSD.

Clinician and Case Coordinator for Family Stabilization Program 2000-2002 Brightside for Families and Children, West Springfield, MA Worked as an outreach therapist with families who had a child who was at risk of becoming hospitalized for mental health reasons. The Family Stabilization services are geared towards helping the child to stabilize by coordinating services with the child’s mental health professionals, family, and school personnel, and by connecting the child, and their family, to important resources in the community.
