Server: Check patrons' identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages. Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems. Escort customers to their tables. Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods. Prepare checks. Serve food and/or beverages to patrons; prepare and serve specialty dishes at tables as required. Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
Bartender: Check identification of customers in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol. Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
Hostess: Greet guests and patrons personally and on the telephone. Offer appropriate seating arrangements. Present menus and take orders. Ensure the quantity of menus is sufficient to cater to the number of guests. Relay orders to the kitchen and ensure all orders are filled in a timely and accurate fashion. Set up dining rooms and make reservation arrangements. Maintain clean and organized tables and work area. Assist room service when and as needed. Manage event related work including setting up tables and maintaining both exterior and interior of the restaurant.
Expeditor: Communicate orders and information between the front of house and back of house, ensuring that food is cooked in the right order, quickly, and presented to the customer. Responsible for all orders to cooked in a timely fashion; all orders for a table are ready at the same time and make sure that once the food is cooked, servers run food to the table while it's warm and ready. Explain special orders to the cooks, and inform servers when the kitchen is out of a particular menu item. Responsible of the final presentation of the plate, making sure it is dressed, garnished correctly and free from smudges or spills.
