Chief Quality Management, 2010 - 2019

Oversight of the Quality Management, Risk Management, High Reliable Performance Improvement, Regulatory Affairs, Patient Safety, Utilization Management, Peer Review, Infection Prevention, Data Management teams with 23 staff members that provided continuous survey readiness for over 1,800 employees. Recognized for instrumental role in facility achieving the gold level for the National Center for Patient Safety’s Cornerstone Award. Successfully led a continuous readiness program for four Joint Commission accredited programs with 100% of all action plans submitted timely and accepted. Chairperson of the facility Executive Quality Council.

Established and provided dashboards, scorecards, and root cause/gap analyses to senior leadership enabling performance tracking, goal setting, and performance improvement plans for patient care, access, service delivery, readmission, and appointment cancellation rates.

Communicated with Physician Advisors and Utilization Management staff to improve patient throughput by focusing/reviewing McKesson's InterQual® Criteria for medical necessity of admissions resulting in 75% of reviews meeting criteria.

Collaborated with Interdisciplinary Team meetings that addresses patient flow, medical necessity of hospital admission and length of stay, through utilizing McKesson's InterQual® Criteria

Directed quality improvements, lean initiatives, and rapid process improvement workshops (RPIWs) to deliver cost savings and efficiency gains. Representative outcomes: Reduced waste/spoilage of biologic materials, saving hospital $561K annually. Eliminated excess motion during medication administration, saving nurses 53 miles/28 hours annually.

Launched performance-improvement initiatives based on Medical Home Model of primary care across 5 outpatient clinics. Installed best practices for providing comprehensive, patient-centered, and team-based healthcare focused on quality, safety, and accessibility. Pneumococcal Immunization algorithm created & used as a best practice in VISN 2.

Supported National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) initiatives as lead of strategic risk management initiatives and safety programs, including enterprise rollout of electronic patient event reporting system (ePERS) and region-wide training that increased adverse event reporting by 5%.
