PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Stanley Smith is a professional communicator in the visual and written format. He has been heard saying that, “the greatest project can be derailed if the community it is to serve does not understand the value or benefit of that project.” Technical speak does not resonate with the general public, but messages can be presented clearly and concisely through effective graphic design and targeted communication. Mr. Smith’s entire career has been in transportation, starting as a college intern with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, after college as a professional working in Atlanta in the public and private sector; GDOT, MARTA and Gude Management Group. His 20 years of experience in the transportation industry in Atlanta, Georgia, has resulted in a strong understand of the diverse communities, the communication challenges, and the appropriate solutions to address those challenges. His tenure in the Atlanta market has afforded him the opportunity to hone into his background in visual and written communications.
Currently, Mr. Smith is a Project Coordinator with Gude Management Group (GMG). With GMG, he has had the opportunity to work in the areas of project controls and public outreach on major transportation projects for GDOT and MARTA. Mr. Smith created graphics as cover art for GDOT’s standard operating procedures manual, in addition, he has provided internal graphic design for GMG proposals. In his current role, he has held the responsibility of documenting project team meetings and providing meeting summaries to be transmitted to the client (MARTA). Mr. Smith has had significant input in developing the messaging and collaterals associated with community engagement on MARTA’s Campbellton Corridor Project.
During this time of focus on addressing racial inequities Mr. Smith is excited about helping to convey messages in a way that encourages meaningful, engagement of those who are often excluded from conversations that affect the future of their communities. PROJECT EXPERIENCE
