SERVICE ACTIVITIES

●Special Education Teacher in the multiple disabilities classroom. This self-contained classroom is geared toward teaching important life skills to students with multiple disabilities. I worked closely with each student on all subjects.

●Special Education Teacher at Parker Intermediate Center. Worked with students with disabilities and had 25+ students on my caseload. Wrote IEPs, lesson plans, and tracked student’s grades. Co-taught in a regular sixth grade math class. Worked closely with special education students in the class.

●Fifth Grade Teacher at Parker Intermediate Center with McAlester Public Schools. Taught Science, Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Math.

●First Grade teacher at North Texas Collegiate Academy; performing all duties required per Texas Education Code.

●Taught educational concepts and social skills through imitation and instructional training in a Pre-School Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD). Also assisted in occupational and speech therapy.

●Supervised various class activities, lead classroom lessons and adapted lessons to meet the needs of the various learning levels of students to meet individual goals.

●Assisted in organizing and operating a structured behavioral classroom for students who were diagnosed as Emotionally Disturbed (ED). Responsible for the safety and well-being of all students in the classroom.

●Actively participated in the behavior modification programs of ED students with consistent social skills training. Behavior modification plans included the point system and the token system.

●Administered and reinforced Behavior Intervention Programs (BIPs) across all grade levels. Trained in the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) on the proper procedures when faced with an acting-out student. Also have completed the Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) online training for modules 1-4.

●Substitute 2nd grade teacher for 12 weeks. Taught, planned, scheduled, demonstrated and graded lessons for 20 students.

●Assisted in the Discipline Alternative Education Program (DAEP) for students who violated the student code of conduct. Maintained a consistent schedule for students’ grades 1-12 with an average enrollment of 20 students.

●Assisted in both ED and developmental SAC/TU classrooms. Administered and reinforced BIP goals for students with autism, developmental and emotional disabilities.

●Assisted in SAC/TU middle school classroom. Administered and reinforced IEP/BIP goals for students with autism and emotional disabilities. Responsible for tracking targeted behaviors on daily point sheet.
