Initially, physician assistant for the group’s hand surgeon who also practiced general orthopedics. Having Georgia licenses, he and I started the group’s first satellite clinic in Bainbridge, GA. I would travel there daily to see patients, first assist, inpatient rounds/ consults, nursing home consults, and ER consults/ trauma care. 3-4 designated surgeons from the group covered the clinic 1-2 times each per month, and either operated or saw patients the day they were there. I would perform any procedures within the scope of my experience and skill set in any of the settings, e.g. displaced fracture reductions using Bier blocks as the local ER physicians were not privileged to do conscious sedation, or revision of fingertip amputations in that rural farming area.

Upon returning to Tallahassee, I would also take call 4-6 times a month with varying surgeons as we covered two hospitals. Other duties would include occasionally covering the 3 other satellite clinics manned by PAs, modeled after the Bainbridge clinic.

For the past two years, I have covered our new TOC NOW walk-in clinic on every other Saturday from 9am-2pm, with the only other PA in the group capable and willing to do it. He works the clinic daily with 3 other PAs from 9am-7pm.
