To whom it may concern:
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Catherine M. Taylor, I am currently seeking to enhance my professional growth and development by exploring new opportunities. I completed my master’s degree in ECE in Trauma Studies at Pacific Oaks College, where I received my bachelor’s Degree in human development as well. Understanding the whole spectrum of developmental needs for providing the utmost support for the children, families, and communities we serve is paramount. I chose to focus on trauma so that I am better able to serve and meet those needs to the best of my ability. I would like to share some of my educational philosophies with you and discuss goals I have for a successful program. I believe experiential learning is how children develop mastery of context and understanding of the complex world we live in. I have always practiced di erentiation using a social constructivist approach. Indoor and outdoor classrooms should encourage, engage, and challenge the children fostering positive self-images. This will promote critical thinking, problem solving, language development, reading readiness and inspire innovative thinking. I believe simply sharing my education philosophy with you will provide greater insight into my methodologies. I believe we must be engaging and inspiring children, creating the magical moments that EVERY CHILD deserves to look back on with the fondest of memories. Children should be empowered, to become more critical thinkers and the most innovative of our future leaders. I embrace an anti-biased, multicultural approach and make EVERY CHILD feel welcome, respected, loved, and valued. When summing up my philosophy with respect to early childhood education I support a "Constructivist" approach using sca olding, in "Learning Center'' based programs where the environment itself is the
"Third Teacher" as represented with a "Reggio'' approach. These programs are reflective of Gardner's teachings of multiple intelligences, Maria Montessori's understanding of the value of play, and John Dewey's belief of "Giving them something to do". My philosophy is congruent with observation and documentation developmental stages as identified by Piaget and specified by Mildred Parten. Most importantly for my journey, and how I truly make a di erence, is my understanding and connection to Bronfenbrenner and his beliefs and philosophy. I want to be "That Somebody" Sincerest regards,
Cat ne M. Tay
