The corporation acquired three companies containing some 400 additional sites and needed to integrate the different networks. As part of the Network Topology WAN Design Team I was responsible for the design and construction of an IP addressing scheme that would be flexible and scalable enough to accommodate the acquired companies as well as the entire enterprise in the future. I designed an addressing model based on the IANA defined 10.0/8 private network using VLSM and CIDR concepts to ensure optimization of address space and contiguous address blocks to allow for route summarization.

Additionally, the team was required to connect the American operations to a secured global frame relay network that will allow them to communicate and share information with all the other divisions. At the American division the team will be installing a LAN consisting of an NT Server and approximately 150 NT workstations. These stations migrated away from direct 5250 connections to an AS/400 running MAPICS.
