BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Insight Global LLC January 2021 – May 2022

I managed a project at Procter & Gamble’s Cincinnati Engineering & Technical Laboratories that involved automation of some labor-intensive production systems. I investigated the possibilities of installing robotics technology for the creation of special customized display packaging for Procter & Gamble’s key customers. I conducted a number of equipment trials at CETL designed to determine whether it was feasible to use robotics technology for case opening and de-canting.

Gus Perdikakis Associates May 2020 – December 2021

Managed a project involving the transfers of Hair Care Production assets from a facility in Iowa City, IA, to a the newly constructed Personal Care products plant in Tabler Station, WV. Worked with project engineers to create a critical path for decommissioning the lines as Iowa City, transporting the line equipment to the new facility, working with WV engineers to reconfigure the line to fit the space available at Tabler Station, and get production up and running. My most recent project involved ensuring that P&G’s raw materials are being responsibly sourced around the globe. This included updating specs in Enovia with responsible supplier information. I was in contact with purchasing managers from all for regions in which P&G does business to make sure that the production of raw materials and their feedstocks was being ethically managed.

Rejoined Gus Perdikakis Associates as a project manager. The assignment for which I was retained was project manager at the Procter & Gamble, Belleville, Ontario plant. The work involved management of the installation of a new production line. Did the critical path scheduling and worked with the project team to get the capital equipment ordered. My involvement in the project was curtailed early due to travel restrictions the Canadian government put in place in response to COVID.

Vertex Computer Systems April 2019 – November 2019

Joined Vertex Computer Systems as a Business Analyst/Subject Matter Expert to provide Vertex clients with technical expertise in the installation of warehouse management systems. This also included working with a major client in the Cincinnati area to install a warehouse application that will automate space management and inventory control. Responsibilities included analyzing warehousing work processes and ensuring that new applications precisely reflect warehousing work flow.

MPC Consulting LLC April 2016- March 2019

Joined the MPC Consulting LLC for the purpose of providing consulting services to clients who require supply chain and regulatory management assistance. One of the major projects entailed working in Enovia to redact specs, standards, and formula cards for hair care brands that were divested. Recently contracted through MPC with Procter & Gamble’s Product Development group to execute a relocation of P&G’s research and development assets to a new, modern health care research laboratory facility in Mason, OH.

Worked on a contract basis as a supply consultant with several major clients on SKU rationalization projects. Identified redundancies in product mixes, and helped supply chain executive streamline customer facing distribution systems to reduce complexity and cost.

Managed supply chain projects for P&G’s Professional Products Business unit, which provides cleaning products to businesses such as hotels and restaurants. Was responsible for sku rationalization, logistics cost savings, packaging cost savings, and packaging supplier management.

Project Engineer – P&G Kansas City Dish Care – June 2015 – October 2015

Led the expansion of Dish Care distribution to three new mixing centers in the Procter & Gamble Supply Network. Established work processes and standards for shipment to the West Coast, Dallas, and St. Louis Mixing Centers. Also performed the engineering project management for work to improve fire protection systems in the warehouse, renovate and increase the number of dock doors, install new racking systems, and auto-generation of truck loading patterns to increase vehicle fill rate. Coached a newly assigned technician in the tools he needed to perform daily truck scheduling as efficiently as possible.

Supply Chain Consultant – Oral Care Products – September 2013 – December 2014

Led the planning and execution of customized display projects for P&G’s Oral Care Business. Using P&G proprietary C Tool to drive overall project stage gate, and technical and commercial readiness processes. Fielded customer requests for specialized, co-branded displays and created the critical path schedule for each project, organized the packaging material suppliers and assigned the production to specific contract manufacturers, and held weekly meetings to track that supply chain deadlines for production and shipment were met.

Led P&G’s home care specialized display execution projects for major customers. Led a team of brand managers and product supply managers to ensure that capacity was available to execute seasonal customer projects. Did production planning with contract manufacturers and coordinated materials delivery to ensure customer deadlines were met.

Manufacturing Consultant – Salon Care Products – March 2010 – September 2011

Advise 3rd party suppliers to P&G on P&G processes and requirements for manufacturing operations, including distribution, product launch and process validation, case marking, export requirements, and bar coding. Make equipment recommendations and capital estimates for technology required to meet supply chain requirements. Clients include Aerobal in Toluca Mexico, and XLC Services in Cincinnati.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Executed major co-branded display projects for major customers including Wal*Mart, Target, Kroger, Wegman’s, and others. Managed relationships with packaging material suppliers and contract manufacturers that enabled timely production. Created a coding system for the Aerobal Company to help track critical products through the supply chain and prevent diversion to unauthorized trade channels. Ensured that proper date codes and product identification codes were used to comply with export requirements. Validated the systems installed to apply the appropriate codes on product.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Designed and implemented procedures for product verification of weights and dimension data that led to 32 percentage point improvement in data accuracy based on key customer feedback. Improved data led to 5% reduction in freight costs in Fabric & Home care division, translating to annualized savings of $2MM.

Led mass update of weights and dimensions data for Health & Beauty Care, resulting in 13 + % improvement in freight utilization. During first 3 days following update, Health & Beauty distribution centers used 19 trucks to ship the same product amount formerly requiring 22 trucks.

Chaired the GS-1 Global Industry Bar Codes and Automatic Identification Business Requirements Group, a user driven industry standards management body. BRG comprised of counterparts from major retailers and manufacturers, including Wal*Mart, Target, 3-M, and Nestle. Incorporated diverging standards from over 70 industry bodies around the world, into one set of Global Trade Item Allocation rules. Rules used by all major trading partners to identify consumer goods and distinguish between their variants. Implementation of common set of global industry rules resulted in centralization and reduction of compliance staff by greater than 50%. Recognized as industry leader, frequent speaker at industry events promoting adoption of industry standards.

Consulted globally with all categories and brands on product initiatives, minimizing costs of product upgrades. Trained office staffs in 4 global locations, ensuring compliance with standards during upgrades so data flowed seamlessly between P&G and customers. P&G pioneered industry acceptance of the Global Data Synchronization Network, thus improving speed-to-market by reducing product launch lead times an average of one week to 10 days.

Led reduction of supply chain packaging material costs by standardizing packaging designs across company. Represented P&G to the Grocery Manufacturers of America, and participated in development of industry wide standards for shipping container and unit load design. Developed and implemented internal standards for case and unit load marking and labeling, as well as scanning and Automated Shipment Notification (ASN) technologies. Ensured supply chain packaging executions were compatible with trade handling systems in the grocery industry. Globally responsible for packaging standardization and capital spending economies of scale.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Enabled reduction of supply chain packaging corrugate board costs in excess of $50MM by ensuring compatibility of light weighting projects with trade handling systems.

Influenced key customers, including Wal*Mart and Target to design package handling systems in a manner compatible with P&G’s focus on reduced packaging costs that met customer goals of improved productivity and safety.

Led effort with Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA) to publish “Voluntary Shipping Container Guidelines for the U.S. Grocery Industry.” This standard established common practices for container design, pallet fit, and damage reduction across the consumer products supply chain.
