I-91 Charter Oak Project (2019-Present), CT DOT, Hartford, CT The project involves the relocation of I-91 NB Exit 29 to the Charter Oak Bridge and widening of I-91 NB and US 5 / Route 15 NB to I-84 EB plus improvements to drainage and roadway. The project requires extensive coordination between all trades and disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and survey subcontractors. Daily activities include inspection, testing, and sampling of materials. All critical activities are recorded, compiled and submitted in report form. Materials required for the project include over 15,000 CY of concrete, 225,000 tons of bituminous concrete pavement, and over 130,000 CY of earth excavation and backfill.

Cricket Valley Energy Center (2017-19), Bechtel Corporation, Dover Plains, NY The project involved earthwork and concrete operations to form the foundation for the 1,100 megawatt, three unit, gas and steam turbine generator power plant. The project required extensive coordination between all trades and disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and survey subcontractors. Daily activities included inspection, testing, and sampling of materials. All critical activities were recorded, compiled and submitted in report form. Materials used for the project included over 26,000 CY of concrete, 2,300 tons of rebar, 290 tons of steel embedments, and over 150,000 CY of earth excavation and backfill.

Reconstruction of Route 175 /Cedar Street over Amtrak (2017), CT DOT, Newington, CT The project involved the replacement of the existing concrete box beam structure with a new plate girder frame with a concrete deck. Pre-cast bridge units (PBU’s) were constructed off-line and installed in two stages after existing sections of the bridge were removed to minimize impact to traffic. Additionally, sections of both abutments and wingwalls were reconstructed to accept the new bridge deck structure.

Contract E, Reconstruction of I-95/I-91/Rt. 34 Interchange (2011-17), CT DOT, New Haven, CT The project involved reconstructing the eastbound approaches to the bridge, known familiarly as the Q Bridge: aging overpasses were removed, new ones built, lanes widened and positions changed over 7.2 miles, all to speed the flow of traffic through the area for decades to come. Work focused on the confluence of Routes 34, 95 and 91 in what is perhaps the state’s busiest interchange: an average of 140,000 vehicles a day travel over I-95 in this section, some 100,000 more than the 1950s design was ever meant to accommodate. Materials used for the project included 143,000 tons of bituminous concrete, 58,860 CY of concrete, 9.9 Million pounds of rebar, 170,600 feet of 16-inch concrete piles along with 366,240 CY of earth excavation.
