Charter Schools

Charter schools are a fantastic alterative to public schools for children of all ages. The fact that charter schools have more freedom to get funding from outside sources they have the ability to put this money into their schools as they see fit. The start of charter school was in the 1970’s. This was at a time when people thought that one education fit all. Budde was not proposing what we know as public charter schools--he was envisioning small groups of "chartered" teachers working in a given public school Donnelly, M. (2017). There are 40 states that have Charter schools running. There are many benefits to sending your child to a charter school a few of these are that they have quality teachers to boost test scours and they have the funding to have all the materials for a successful school.

With the correct continued training and support from administration you will have a quality set of teachers. All teacher has to have continued education but the better sources that are offered they may choose to get a higher degree in a college. Most school offer in serves days for continued education training and time to work in their rooms. Even with an alternative curriculum a charter school still has to be able to have their students preform will on state testing. Each school may have a different kind of curriculum and you there will be training on the information being expected for the teachers to deliver to the students. With the funding that the school gets they can used it for the curriculum and continued training for the staff.

Charter schools have more freedom to get outside funding such as government or privately-owned companies. In some states they can also collect money form the local government in the form of taxes. Also, with the funds that the charter schools get they then can put it into other programs in the school. In different grade levels They can even go out and scout kids for their athletic department and also for their academic purposes. While having the funds the charter school can purchase the best curriculum to educate the students so that way the will do well on the standardized test as well as in life. While having the funds the charter school can purchase the best curriculum to educate the students so that way the will do well on the standardized test as well as in life.

There have been many studies of charter school testing verses a public school. From the research that I came across there are many schools that are using a Montessori curriculum with all of their values. The charter school was designed to give teacher the freedom and ability to teach in a manner that they found was most effective for their students. There was a study done from 2010 to 2013 in Texas it was more the type of test that made a difference then the type of school that the student was enrolled in. There are many strengths in that you can take away from sending your child to a charter school verse to a public school.

As it was in the 1970’s there is not one source of education that fits all children learn in different ways. There are many that need that extra help and so that need to be challenged. Charter school are an excellent attritive to a traditional public school. With the right teacher, funding and curriculum a charter school you will set your child up for a bright and successful life. Every school has its benefits, so you have to take the bad with the good and find the school that best fits your child’s and your needs.
