Anyone who has ever run their own business as the sole financial support for their household knows that working without any guarantee of salary is a much different job. I could elaborate about the hours, the hunger, the motivation it requires to succeed year after year, but you either get it because you too have lived it or you don’t. That has been my very successful career/life for 25+ years. To say I am self-motivated would be an understatement.

It’s essential to success that I create long term customer relationships with the right companies. Over the course of my career in sales I’ve developed relationships with all of the major bog box retailers and specialty stores. People still buy from people – you have to get out and in front of your clients. Follow up, follow through and keeping your promises are keys to these long term and very successful relationships that have yielded consistent revenue streams for Cummings, Inc.

I have created a buyer/management tracking system that details, terms, fixtures, buyer/management wish list. Working with buyer’s stocking & sales plans along with chasing every open dollar that’s available. I have created programs that flow product more frequently to keep inventory low and product turn high. Providing detailed weekly analysis allowed me to increase the rate of new orders on the highest turn products. Most of my customers have earned such trust in me that I’ve been granted access to their internal SAP or On Demand systems – not as an employee or customer, but as an independent supplier.

Customer’s not only buy from me because they like the products I rep, but because they gain a sense of trust in me that “I will make them successful – they trust me.” I have worked with various buyers & teams on coaching product knowledge, training and customer sales skills. I focus on their outcome; their success is my success and I have been successful.

I possess strong skills in organizing meetings with new and established clients that provide clients with information they need. Strong follow up has been a key to my success. I work hard to keep projects moving forward which benefits my customers, but also benefits me & my employer.

My day never ends at 5pm, in my field, entertaining buyers by hosting dinners and getting to know them has built strong, long term friendships that motivate buyers to find me when they start new jobs. A secondary result is this builds a strong referral network from trusted customers who open doors for me at new customers.

I have been a National Sales manager for several vendors, traveled with sales team members and company owners to close the deal and improve the client experience - all as an independent. I’ve created training protocol for entry level sales and customer service team to generate a more uniform client experience.
