PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Ovilan Consulting LTD – Remote Scrum Master
International Airlines Group, September 2021 to Present
Engaged agile teams in developing a digital system to largely automate the standard verification process of covid documents for air travel passengers to minimize the risk of contact through a physical document verification process and long queues at the airport. The Departure Control System was integrated with VeriFly, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), and Salesforce Einstein AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology. I facilitated the distributed Scrum and Kanban teams from kickoff as they embraced agile ways of working:
Trained leadership on the basics of Agile/ Scrum, and in particular, the need for a change in leadership style through embracing Agile values and principles to lead by example.
Trained and Coached Teams on Scrum and Kanban framework, putting all relevant practices in place, but more importantly, focusing on the values, principles, and the need for safety, especially in COVID times with remote working.
Facilitated various coaching sessions, ensuring both team and individual needs were in focus, and encouraged the right behaviors for psychological safety
Engaged agile teams with team-building activities by leading them through the team formation stages to set the right foundations and build a high-performing team that can continue to adapt in a VUCA world
Working closely with the Product Owner, facilitated several meetings - from customer focus groups to Product discovery and design thinking workshop sessions with both internal stakeholders and external customers due to the volatile nature of the requirements to define, elaborate, and prioritize user stories- working towards Definition of ready (DOR)
Facilitated all Agile ceremonies and kept track of the work with Jira from sprint to sprint as we focused on meeting our commitments to deliver the sprint goals
Facilitated Retrospective for continuous improvement
SUCCESSES
Several improvements were achieved which included:
Reduction in Physical checks - An increase in the use of the VeriFly App – resulting in 65% passengers verification before getting to the Airport
Through Automation, a reduction in back-office processing time from 8 mins to 2mins
Responsiveness due to the use of the Agile framework was particularly useful, given the volatile nature of the COVID Pandemic, and the rapid changes in government policies to operators and customers globally
