Objective:

To obtain a position in a manufacturing or lab environment that can utilize my plant operating, chemical handling, assembly, compounding or vacuum technology skills.

Professional Experience:

5/2018 - Present International Paper Gilroy Ca.

Maintenance Mechanic

I work troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment that relates to the manufacturing of corrugated paper. This involves a multitude of equipment such as pneumatic, hydraulic and steam systems while having the ability to make reasonable decisions and work safely using LOTO procedures which include isolating valves and equipment up/ downstream of the site being worked on. I have dealt with lots of water and chemical line breakage and drainage with proper PPE before performing repairs. Currently forklift certified.

6/2014 - 2/2018 Calera Corp. Moss Landing Ca.

Lead Plant operator

I worked at Calera as a lead operator in a plant environment making Ethylene dichloride. The job entailed walking the floor as well as running the plant via PLC/HMI while monitoring trends using a piece of software called PI. I would run the whole plant with just one other operator and no management or engineering on site. Even though we were just two people, I had the skills to start up, run or shut down the plant while also being able to handle any problems that may arise including a catastrophic event. Running the plant involved controlling pumps, manipulating valves, monitoring and adjusting temps, pressures and much more. I also pulled extensive samples throughout each shift and processed them. (dilutions, extracts, Ph, titrations and more) Our system in a nut shell was comprised of a feed, reactor, distillation and an electrochemistry cell that would convert our feed stock from a spent state back into a useable form. I also performed maintenance while running and even more maintenance during shutdowns.

02/2013 – 6/2014 North Star Bio-Fuels Watsonville Ca.

Lead Plant Operator

I started at North Star as a plant operator and helped construct the plant from the ground up. I was promoted to the lead plant operator soon after and oversaw a three-man crew. We would Make bio-diesel using a tallow feed stock. During the making of this fuel I would monitoring key temperatures, pressures and flows not to mention many more details. I maintained the specifications of our fuel by pulling sample from keys areas of the plant and processing them. (FFA, Carl Fisher, flash point, centrifuge, cloud point, cold soak filtration and more) The method used to make the fuel involved a feed, reactor, centrifuge to separate heavy and light phases, distillation, blending and much more. I would also operate the board at times controlling systems.

11/2007 – 10/2012 California Tube Labs Watsonville Ca.

Process Specialist

I started at CTL building pulse magnetron tubes that were used for home land security. This duty entailed using welding, brazing, fine measurement and improvising skills. I used helium sensitive leak checking devices, sputter, spot welding and RF equipment. I also used roughing and diffusion pumps for several different vacuum systems. I ended up in the tube bake out section of the company using mentioned vacuum systems to bake out and run pulse magnetron as well as microwave tubes utilizing ion gauges and variacs to adjust and measure pressures, temperatures, amperage and voltage.

4/2004 – 10/2007 Oxford Technologies Scotts Valley Ca.

Cell Coordinator

I worked as a cell coordinator at oxford manufacturing x-ray tubes. I stared out as a technician that set the bar at wiring and assembling up to 16 of these tubes into their permanent fixtures daily. I also spent a considerable amount of time working in the test department. I utilized equipment such as power supplies, variacs, strip charts and spot photo software. I monitored these tubes at 30-60 KV and about .5 amps while monitoring strip charts that recorded run time and arcing data. I quickly moved on to more complicated and technical assemblies. I progressed at a rapid rate and within a year I had gained enough knowledge to be promoted to cell coordinator. I managed 4-6 employees while coordinating a schedule that shipped $800,000 – $1,200,000 in product monthly. I was also very involved in helping the company become ISO 9001 certified by writing procedure and being involved with the creation of SOP’s.
