I checked-in patients for a very busy practice using our electronic medical records, Nextgen Software. This consisted of verifying patients insurances on visit, giving appropriate paperwork to update patient information, entering all patient information and insurance in system. I verify how patient will pay for their co-pay or visit, if no insurance is provided for that day. Also, I make sure patient ids and insurance cards are scanned for our system. I helped other departments during down time.

I checked patients out. I had to make next appointment specified by doctor, collect co-pays, and enter diagnoses codes for that days visit. Also, I had to make sure my fee tickets and money collected all balance with reports ran at the end of the day. I verified and documented all forms of payments received at the end of each day. Also, I verified the amount of money left in my money bag at the end of each day. I made sure all money bags and reports were locked in the safe at the end of each day. I made sure the credit card machine was closed at the end of the day. I also made sure the entrance doors were locked and eye drop cabinet was locked.

I worked in our Lasik facility. I prepared charts for surgery, made reminder calls, entered surgery charges and received patient payments for their surgery. I worked post op clinic three times a week for this department also.

I remained current in all my monthly HIPPA training compliance testing.

I worked at the appointment desk before being promoted to a check-in representative position. I handled all glaucoma patients’ charts who habitually missed or canceled appointments on that desk. Also, I ran and worked reports I was responsible for.

I have balanced account books for six doctors and optical shop. I mastered that responsibility in less than a week.

I worked in medical records pulling and getting charts ready for week for each doctor. I filed documents in patient’s charts, printed super-bills for that particular day. Filed charts back and pulled charts when needed for employees. Also, printed schedules for collections manager.

I handled switchboard and helped medical records with different duties.
