Dataaire. September 2021 to Present day

Industrial Design Engineer

Dataaire is in the businesses of designing and manufacturing data center server cooling systems, for the health-care, medical, laboratories, entertainment, financial, government and utilities, telecommunication and education centers. Some of my responsibility included working with sales, application engineers, support teams, fabricators/manufacturing department to design and manufacture per customer specifications. I was also given the responsibility for standardizing our drawings and Solidworks models. Set standards for the design team, work with manufacturing department to reduce reworks and eliminate downtime as much as possible. Consult with colleagues to get specials customer orders out on time and as signed off by the customer. I Used SolidWorks 2021 and AutoCAD to get the Bill of Material, cut list for the structural steel fabrication, design work and manufacturing drawings accomplished.

Troy Sheet Metal Works.

Design Engineer (Contract) October 2020 to July 2021

Troy Sheet Metal Works, Inc. have been around since 1991 and they design and manufacture products for vehicle applications, specifically for public safety agencies. They also do a lot of customized sheet metal work, as well as fabricate the design in house. My function was to work with the sales group to come up with a design for each customer's specifications that would be manufactured in house. Working with manufacturing department after the customer have signed off on the design, we build, test fit and ship the product to the customer for installation. I also work on customized products, Working with the customer we will find out what they will like the end product to accomplish. With that information and knowledge of the product. I will generate a design for the customer to review and sign off on. If changes are needed I will make the necessary adjustments and resubmit to the customer for final approval. I will then create the manufacturing drawings needed to manufacture the parts and assemblies, for a prototype. My primary mode of accomplishing my designs was with the assistance of SolidWorks 2019.

Hamrock, Inc. November 2018 to May 2020

Industrial Design Engineer (Covid19 Pandemic)

Hamrock is a company that works closely with other businesses to manufacture their customized products. We also help them design and redesign their product for manufacturing. My function was under the general direction of the engineering manager, to help with the design and redesign of products from clients so it could be manufactured in house. I used SolidWorks to accomplish this goals. In consultation with the customer I worked with our manufacturing and fabricators to create the product as signed off by the customer. Investigated failures, come up with solutions and corrective actions for the faulty parts. Provide all design changes for new and existing projects, ensured proper documentation of all changes. Engineering change orders and document control methods, as well as supervise the work going to these departments. Attended C.C.B. meetings and made sure all departments signed off on all the changes that had been made. As a liaison to other departments, I conferred with Application Engineer, Sales, Planning, Production, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing as well as outside vendors to resolve design problems related to dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing on a regular basis.

Mortech Manufacturing. December 2016 to October 2018

Mechanical Design Engineer (Laid off)

Mortech Manufacturing is a manufacturer of Morgue, Medical industry equipment and instruments. Went back to help with their new walk-in refrigeration units. I also helped set up the standard units and some of the standard sizes, as well as configuring models to be easily changed for customized units. I also worked on projects we needed to catch up on and help bring then up to date. I used SolidWorks 2018 for the design work. Worked with manufacturing department to keep projects going with minimum downtime, by responding to all their needs and questions on a timely basis.

Aero Seating Technologies March 2011 to April 2016

Mechanical Design Engineer (Laid off)

AST manufactures customized luxury Aero Seats. Using SolidWorks and Made to Manage, I help with the creation of new and redesigning of our aircraft seats and manufacturing drawings, to help reduces rework. Worked on new designs per customer's specifications, Sustaining engineering, Liaison to Manufacturing, Assembly, Production and Q.A. department. Worked our MRB as I filled in as a Manufacturing Engineer. Work with Planning department to make sure the BOMs were correct and the shop floor was working with the proper revised production drawings. Works closely with research, project engineers, and technicians to meet our delivery dates. Attend Charge Control Board meetings to make sure all the engineering changes are disseminated to all departments, understood and incorporated to the manufacturing processes. This helped to avoid reworks, eliminate downtime and keep all projects running on time. Research new products with the electrical engineers and find ways to incorporate the new technologies to our on going projects.

Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract)

One of my most important jobs was to work with the General Manager/President of the company to go through the sales form and develop precise layout from the customer specifications using SolidWorks 2011. Make recommendations as to Mortech manufacturing processes, procedures, manufacturing capabilities and send it back to the client for approval. Work with the manufacturing department to understand the final drawings per ISO standard. Work to resolve manufacturing problems as it pertains to drawings and designs. Using SolidWorks to design Pathology, Autopsy, Funeral, Necropsy, Veterinary, Anatomy Dissection Equipment and Instruments, Stainless steel Tables, Cabinets and Enclosures. Follow projects from point of sales to Manufacturing, research new purchased components to see now it can save the company some money and see how it could be integrated to our product line.
