Middle School ELA Interventionist

In my time at Tipton West, I have worked with Grades 6-8 as an ELA Interventionist and provided enrichment and ancillary materials. I have extensive experience with IXL and Read 180, and PowerSchool programs, and have worked with students in these programs both in person, and virtually.

I completed the 40 hour BRIDGE TEFL program, earning my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certification.

My Virtual Academy and Back on Track are two branches of ATS Temp Services, which works with school districts throughout the state to provide accredited diplomas through an entirely online program.

In my time at My Virtual Academy, I worked as a Student Advisor. My duties included facilitating student records, calculating graduation credits, maintaining attendance records for state audits, and tutoring.

I completed WIDA training.

In my time at Back on Track, I worked as a Student Advocate. My duties included maintaining attendance records, facilitating communications with our Tech Department and trouble-shooting any equipment problems, maintaining parent contact, and tutoring.

I edited professionally, both as a freelance contractor, and as a house editor at (now defunct) Musa Publishing. I also worked as a freelance cover artist for numerous e-published novellas and short stories.

During this time also cared for my mother who was in end stage Alzheimer’s.

August 2001 – June 2012 Southfield Public Schools

While at Southfield Lathrup High School (2001-2010), I taught Composition and Literature at all four levels, and Grammar for College. During my tenure, I served as both Freshman and Sophomore Team Leader and worked as a mentor to new teachers and our many long-term substitute teachers.

I spent four years as the Yearbook sponsor, which involved teaching journalistic writing and graphic design, tracking business expenditures and incoming monies, and working with our Josten’s representatives to design and utilize an effective business plan.

I took an active leadership role in Student Government as Class Sponsor for the Class of 2006 attended Leadership Camps and Retreats, organized events such as dances, charity drives, and social events like skate-a-thons.

While at Southfield Regional Academic Campus (2010-2012), I worked as Assistant Testing Coordinator (2010-11), and helped coordinate ACT/MME testing. I taught Writing for College, ACT Prep for ELA, and was involved in the LEAP credit recovery program.
