Project Engineer Assistant/Inspector

Checked Quantity Records, kept track of the footage attained as well as using a pdf application I redlined the entire job according to stationing and offsets. I also handled all the 811 call tickets and would locate our fiber optic cable according to the ticket. I inspected the installation of the conduit system and also blowing of the fiber.

I inspected the construction of the duct placement for the fiber optic with bores, plows and trackhoe or backhoe. I also located and flagged the existing fiber and made sure to follow all guidelines in keeping the duct placement at the correct depths and offsets.

I located the fiber optic for Qwest after Hurricane Katrina hit. My primary responsibility was to go out on a boat with a dive crew and locate the fiber across the rivers and the Gulf of Mexico at Bay St Louis. Once located we would mark it with a buoy.

I worked the service desk running a register and greeting customers. I would help to front all merchandise during slow periods and stock the cups for drinks. I also would fill in at the accounting office when the accounting person would call in sick. I had to balance all cash drawers, fill the cash tender on the service desk, restock the change drawer and balance it, make the daily deposit, order cash for the next day and balance the main safe.

I worked with a trench crew and a bore crew doing inspection of a 10 duct system being placed for fiber optic. It was my responsibility to make sure the crews had all their signage out for traffic, make sure they all had the proper protective gear on and to keep the duct at the proper depth and proper offset from the highway.

As a CSR I worked making outbound calls and setting the customers up on long distance with MCI. When promoted to Escalations Supervisor I assisted a crew of 4 individuals with handling calls that were transferred from other CSR’s for assistance to help solve the issues the customer had. It would range anywhere from calming the customer down to calling their local phone company and working with them to get the customers phone bill reduced due to the local phone company not transferring the customer to MCI and giving them the correct rate on their bills. I received an award for saving one customer over $2,000 on their phone bill from incorrect billing through their local phone company.
