Processed and managed short-term disability claims for the Railroad Disability department.
Researched employer information and reviewed medical records for validity.
Maintained constant communication with customers and physicians to ensure that I had the most accurate information for the company records.
I managed approximately ninety accounts, and directly negotiated payments with customers, and collected updated information for the life of each claim.
I learned a tremendous amount of my management qualities from this position due to the fact that I was given complete accountability for the outcome of each claim, and the financial impacts my decisions would have on the company. I began to build on my career as a leader in this position. I was given the opportunity to train several new employees within the department, and assist in the development of those who felt they needed further training on particular systems, policies, procedures, etc.
