EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT JAMIESON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SEPTEMBER 2014 – JUNE 2015

My primary focuses at Jamieson Elementary School; were grades 1 through 4. I provided extra assistance to help students with assignments and reinforce learning concepts. I collaborated with co-workers, supervisors and parents to maintain a partnership type environment. This particular school year I had been working with a female student, age 7 with severe anger issues. Together we came up with an idea of writing or drawing her anger on paper, when she felt angry or upset she would write or draw it out; we would talk through the process and together, throw out the piece of paper. This student came along way in this school year and she is someone I will never forget. Another male student and I, age 6 with the same issue except less aggressive, worked on visualizing his anger. Together we came up with an idea of him having his eyes closed and we would talk through his anger and visualize the feeling leaving his body. I like to think I had a positive outcome on these children’s lives and taught them skills they can use for the rest of their lives. I was also responsible for handling the “hot lunches” twice a month.
