Hello!

I recently moved to the Asheville, North Carolina area from NC’s capital city of Raleigh where, for the past two years, I worked full-time as a Peer Support Specialist in the Behavioral Health department of WakeMed Health and Hospitals.

My duties included everything ranging from working out in the field with homeless addicts to helping more well-to-do folks mired in alcoholism, using Epic® software to notate my work as well as their progress. I worked in the same detox unit where I had been ten years before, helping transition people into a better life. I introduced people to 12-step programs and found sponsors for them. I purchased clothing and food for those living on the streets, and helped them get started with applying for housing and disability. I had done the same thing myself, and was able to lead them into the discovery of a pathway to recovery.

My resume reflects that I have done many things, from radio announcer to network administrator to Certified Nursing Assistant. To be honest, I never felt like I was doing what I was put on this earth to do, until I worked as a Peer Support.
