I am a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certified Health Safety and Environment Professional who understands well the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (ISO 45001). I have also been part of the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS 18001) as well as the Environmental Management System ISO 14001 in four different international companies while I continue to help various local companies to meet the aforementioned standard(s).
I have actively managed workplace hazards over the past eight (8) years both as an employee in four international companies at various stages and also as a consultant to various local companies. In recent past, I worked as the Northern Sector Project(s) Health and Safety Coordinator for AVIC INTL- GHANA where I led the development of the Health Safety and Environment Management System requirements and its implementation at four different project sites within the Northern and Upper East regions of Ghana
Before AVIC INTL, I was a Lead Marine Health Safety and Environment Advisor for China Harbour Engineering Company Limited on its Tema Port Expansion Project one of the Mega Construction Projects within the West African Sub-Regions which was financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and partly commissioned in July 2019. To me, team work can be interesting but I see individual work with little or no supervision as an avenue that challenges my professional capabilities and will work diligently to meet deadlines with recourse to any specified Key Performance Indicator (KPI).
Health Safety and Environment Management Planning and Implementation: I am able to plan and actively implement the Health Safety and Environment plan by developing the required and necessary documentations, setting up the project site to meet the required standards, working to meet all legal requirements and international standards, developing templates for recording Health Safety and Environment incidents as well as planning for the management of Emergency situations on various projects.
Work at Height and Fall Protection Management: I’m able to actively coordinate work at height operations by ensuring that worker protection requirements for Work at Height are met before workers are allowed to access elevated work spaces. As basics, I make sure that work at height training requirements are met by all crew members, fall protection devices are installed, inspected and tagged, appropriate personal protective devices are made available and that crew members are made to understand the emergency response procedures during the pre-task briefings coupled with the installation of appropriate safety signage(s) to enhance safety awareness and compliance.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Marine Lifting and Rigging Operations: My interface with lifting equipment(s) and operations has allowed me to master the critical skills required for carrying-out safe lifting operations. I have developed soft skills relating to the identification of hazards and recommending control measures relating to lifting and rigging operations. I have utilized this skill in carrying out both simple and critical lifting operations on site while ensuring that lifting gears, crane, and operator meet the required Third Party standards prior to every lifting operation. I have continuously reviewed and signed off lifting permits and also scrutinized lifting plans relating to marine installation works.
Confined Space Work Management: I have coordinated Confined Space activities both on land and on marine installations through the review and communication of Risk Assessments, pre-task safety requirements like conducting gas test, ensuring that safety harness is available and used by confined space entrants, installation of tripod for emergency rescue operations, the maintenance of confined space entry register among many other requirements, standards and procedures.
Quarry Health Safety and Environment Management: I have actively been involved as the Lead Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator for planning and implementing the Health, Safety and Environment Management system on an International Finance Corporation (IFC) funded drilling, blasting and haulage of quarry stones. This role involves, stakeholder engagements, ensuring the implementation of drilling and blasting procedures, environmental sustainability actions, traffic management planning and implementation, and emergency preparedness planning and implementation.
Inter-Personal Relations: Having worked with people of diverse national, cultural and religious orientations over the past years, it is not difficult for me to work in a team in a manner that builds cordiality thereby influencing production in a positive manner.
Equipment and Machinery Safety Management: I am able to plan and carryout equipment and plant safety management through the development of planned inspection schedules and inspection templates.
Computer Skills: I am able to work with the main Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Report Writing Skills. I have developed good incident report writing skills through my direct involvement under the instruction of various Health, Safety and Environment Managers I have worked with in the investigation of incidents and the writing of respective reports which are submitted to company top management, project consultant and client offices.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Safety and Health Environmental Management Planning: Prepare and lead the implementation of the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan for projects within the northern sector which allows for the outlining of policies, and procedures towards the achievement of the objective of “Zero Harm” at the workplace.
Company Representation: Representing the company at all client meetings and serving as the liaison officer between the company and any governmental agency representative regarding all Health Safety and Environment issues of concern while addressing any possible Health, Safety and Environment concerns raised by the client and outlining plans that seek to address such Health Safety and Environment concerns in a timely manner. It also involves outlining the progress made through the implantation of the Health Safety and Environment Management Plan as well as the pro-active steps taken to ensure the protection workers and the environment.
Workplace Hazard Identification and Control: Developing administrative controls and programs that allow for an effective identification and control of workplace hazards. It takes the form of developing Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analysis for the purpose of identifying workplace hazards coupled with programs such as workplace inspections for the purpose of identifying and controlling the hazards associated with the project.
Health, Safety and Environment Budgeting: Preparing the budget necessary for implementing the requirements of general and specific Health Safety and Environment standards as well as the objectives captured in the company’s Health Safety and Environment Management Plan.
Site Set Up: Collaborating with the Engineering and Construction departments and providing leadership for the assigned Site Safety Advisor to set up the project site to meet the required standards of Health Safety and Environment Management. This involves the identification of hazardous work-zones, as well as the implementation of plans that actively work to protect the environment against the effects of construction activities as well as satisfying all national legal requirements and international standards of carrying out the construction activities.
Health Safety and Environment Reporting: Developing the procedures and documentations for reporting Health Safety and Environment incidents and keeping the data and information necessary for measuring Health Safety and Environment performance as well as investigating incidents and taking steps to prevent their re-occurrence.
Health Safety and Environment Audit Preparation: Taking steps to ensure that the site setup and the required documents for measuring Health Safety and Environment performance meet the required standard.
Emergency Preparedness: Developing and implementing an effective Emergency response management plan taking into consideration the need to meet legal and international standards and requirements.

COMPANY PROFILE; China Harbour Engineering Company is an engineering contractor and a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), which provides infrastructure construction such as marine engineering, dredging and reclamation, natural gas plants. It is currently carrying out the Tema Port Expansion and the Tema Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal within the Tema Ports and Harbour enclave.
