Position: Training Electronic Engineer (Apprentice on Mondi site) Duties: Installation of Actuators, new installations, QC of Electrical and instrumentation in the plant, cabling, glanding & termination of cables. Installation of industrial process instruments, assisting in calibration & Testing. Assisting in electrical work, Instrumentation and electrical projects at Mondi. Liaising with foremen and project engineers. Maintenance during shutdowns. Worked on various network and bus topologies. Installation and maintenance of devices such as metering and recording. Instrument, controlling devices, display equipment, telemetry system and communication. SCADA and PLC wiring from the field instrumentation to the marshalling cabinet. Calculation of required I/O needed for the plant for existing and new projects. Testing of equipment in order to see whether there is need for repair or not. These testing procedures were done by the means of equipment such as pressure gauges, ammeters, wattmeter, etc. Working closely to coal, gas and electric fired boilers which enable me to withstand very high operating temperatures. Stack emissions sensors and controls implemented to minimize unwanted pollution to the environment and people.

Preventative maintenance of instruments and electrical components in the plant. Sampling of chemical, product and analyzing of viscosities. Ensuring that all the instruments are in good working condition. Replace those instruments which require to be improved by the means of hand tools. Monitoring of the instrument recordings to ensure that the readings are accurate and apply corrective action to find the cause of the incorrect recordings. Competent to make sketches and schematic drawings in order to prove if any alteration in the instrument is required or not. All the wiring and tubing that were done according to a standard to make sure that there are no downfalls in the functionality of the machines. Performed substation safety with electricians of the plant ensuring that all procedures are followed and are in place. Removal of redundant buckets, transformers and electrical apparatus, wiring of VSD’S and transformers that were required to be changed. Performed lock out procedures on shutdowns to isolate certain parts of the plant for work to be conducted. Routines were conducted every morning to monitor various levels, electronic performances of substation equipment.
