ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the administration, overall technical direction and co-ordination of civil / structural engineering and design work on assigned projects.
• Responsible for the assessment of technical resources for assigned projects.
• Ensures that all assigned civil engineering activities are carried out within the agreed manhour budgets, cost budgets and time schedules.
• Assists in the preparation of manhour estimates for Civil Engineering activities for proposals and projects.
• Assigns and coordinates the activities of junior technicians.
• Performs engineering design calculations and prepares design sketches in accordance with the standards and procedures.
• Checks and approves calculations and other project deliverables performed by technicians.
• Conceptualize and plan the technical scope of critical (built environment) projects and manage quality output (from design to testing/commissioning stage) according to agreed user requirement specifications
• Attends progress meetings and prepares project progress reports.
• Prepares contract requisitions and specifications for civil and structural work on assigned projects.
• Draw and manage contracting models that inform service level standards/objectives or agreements and performance of specialist service providers.

• Prepares technical evaluations of civil and structural contract enquiries.
• Ensure optimal performance of engineering plant by applying technical and safety standards and act as legal authority with respect to plant engineering
• Ensures that all civil / structural engineering work on assigned projects is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Engineering Professions Act, 2000.
• Compile and profile business intelligence reports for analysis and management intervention, including reports on maintenance backlog and non-conformances from set standards/objectives.
• Carries out periodic inspection of civil and structural work during construction to ensure correct interpretation of designs and issues completion certificates for structural work carried out on assigned projects.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Including but not limited to the utilisation of material, implementation of strategies and engaging technical consultants on client assignments.
• Conducting safety audits with OHS Officer and make sure that all construction activities are being carried out in accordance with pre-set safety standards.
• Inspecting and assessing the quality of materials being used for construction projects according to SANS standards.
• Calculating the quantity of material, supplies and equipment needed for individual projects.
• Providing recommendations for repair work and ensuring that deadlines and deliverables are met on time.
• Compiling monthly technical reports such as project status and financial reports presented to the client and various stakeholders such as Department of Water & Sanitation and Tubatse Municipality at regional as well as provincial level monthly.
