Project profile: Casecnan Multipurpose Power Project is a water diversion scheme for hydropower generation and irrigation purposes.

It consists of two river weirs, with long term diurnal storage in the headponds and intake works on the rivers Casecnan and Taan Rivers and the excavation of a 25 km long transbasin tunnel to divert water from the intakes into the Pantabangan Reservoir.

The design flow capacity of the transbasin tunnel and ancillary facilities is 80 m3/sec. Before flowing into Pantabangan reservoir, water will generate electrical energy.

Undertakes daily detailed Geologic mappings of full section of all tunnels (excavation by Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Wirth and Robbins including Drill and Blast) within the whole project area.

Assessment of tunnel condition right after every excavation utilizing the Rock Mass Rating Classification according to BIENNIAWSKI and Q, Rock Quality, in order to recommend appropriate final supports for the tunnel.

Undertakes detailed bore hole core logging and geotechnical description of rock core and sediments/soil samples derived during drilling operations on site.

Geotechnical analysis of Piezometer bore holes were also done on some area of the projects.
