It's of little use having extensive knowledge if you cannot clearly communicate with others, peers or clients. This truth applies to Auditing and Accounting as well, where efficient and clear communication between staff, the multidisciplinary team, and between the auditing team and the client is of paramount importance, if the client is to achieve the optimal level of service. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have given necessary importance to this important field. Experiences as a volunteer first-aider, as a lifeguard, being part of NGO's Executive Board, and as a student in Auditing, helped improve skills such as asking the right questions, listening, understanding and arriving to a conclusion based on the evidence at hand. These abilities are assets 4/1/17 © European Union, 2002-2016 http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu Page 6 / 6 in Auditing, in the assessment of clients, in order to deliver an optimal service. Organisational / managerial skills 1) Leadership (As a secretary general was responsible for 12 people) 2) Good organisational skills gained as a secretary general of TDM 2000 Malta and Assistant Treasurer of GPA
3) good team-leading skills
4) Time management5) Giving out work to ideal candidates Job-related skills To me, auditing in banking is more than a job, it is a duty and a privilege. Skills are not limited to what is learnt in class. It is not a profession which specifically deals with computers or accounts but it deals with humans, and hence life skills such as those of communication and leadership are priceless. Skills such as empathy, a will to get things right at the first try, being proactive, and always willing to learn more are assets which have been described in me by supervisors, tutors, lecturers, managers and peers alike.
Throughout my degree and masters I have been given the privilege to acquire knowledge which is of essential importance in this field. Theoretical knowledge, obtained during classes or research, forms a platform for practical skills, learnt during job shadowing with PwC throughout my degree and masters.
