Work History
Emergency Medical Technician, Special Event Medical Services, May 2014 to Present, Washington, DC
Executed emergency medical care for the sick and injured
Trained and Administered CPR and AED to those experiencing cardiac complications
oAs an emergency medical technician, working the Citi Bank Open tennis match, I encountered an attendee that was complaining of chest pain. I checked her vital signs and determined that her pulse rate was unusually high. I instructed the attendee that I was contacting the city’s Emergency Response System. She protested and did not want to have an ambulance come. I checked her vital sign again and this reading of her pulse was much higher. I dialed 911 and within minutes members of the city’s emergency response team arrived and transported the patient to a nearby hospital. I was able to ensure that there were zero cardiac emergencies during the Citi Bank Open tennis match.
Urine Drug Collector, GL Medical Inc., 2011 to 2013, Washington, DC
Performed urinalysis and hair follicle drug testing according to DOT and Non-DOT standards
Collected, labeled and secured specimens for testing
oAs a urine collector, I consistently collected and controlled several samples and collection materials simultaneously in a fast paced environment. Due to the importance and confidentiality of the subject matter; sanitation order was paramount, I ensured that all testing materials were cleared after each patient and I ensured to label all specimens as collected. I was executed quality testing with no mistakes.
Mental Health Counselor, 2006- 2007, West View, Washington, DC
Served as a Mental Health Counselor to mentally challenged clients; assisted patient with personal care, independence, mobility; utilized lift or gait-transfer belts to assist the resident to ambulate
Performed observation and assessments of skin conditions, bruises, color, fever and respiration.
Managed overnight status observation of rest and sleep patterns and reported any medical conditions to Charge nurse; collected data and developed comprehensive reports
oAs a Mental Health Counselor, I safely transported and assisted patients throughout the facility, ensuring that safety procedures were strictly adhered to. Clients habitually resisted the assistance and usage of certain devices used to transport them. I ensured the patients that the devices were necessary for transportation and I agilely moved them about the facility without incident.
Monitoring Technician, 2005- 2006, Arrhythmia Monitoring Incorporation, Olney, MD
Received and managed emergency calls form heart monitor patients
Updated patient’s accounts: Scheduled replacement of batteries and supplies.
Managed patient supplies and products such as EKG strips.
oAs a Monitoring Technician, I routinely collected monitors from patients, inspected for damage, replaced LED wires, calibrated the machines and shipped the monitors back to the client. Ensuring that the machines were calibrated was extremely difficult if there were physical damage. If there were physical damage, I then ordered parts and replaced the damaged parts. This resulted in reduced costs for the company and patient as new machines were costly.
Animal Care Technician, 2004-2005, Animal Welfare League, Arlington, VA
Greeted pet owners and directed them the area to receive evaluation and assessments
Monitored animals' recovering from surgery and notified veterinarians of any unusual symptoms
Cleaned and maintained kennels, holding areas, examination and operating room
Administered medication, immunizations, and blood plasma as prescribed by veterinarians
oAs an Animal Control Technician, the majority of my time was performed after having read and interpreted instruction, specification and prescriptions. Misinterpretation could result in death of prolonged illness of the animal. I read to ascertain the exact instruction and if I needed further clarification, I would inquire from a supervisor. This resulted in no medical overdose deaths on my shift.
