Role: F1
Overview
Excellent four-month experience in one of the most challenging A&Es in South Wales. Wide experience gained in practical procedures and medical/surgical emergencies. As a supernumerary doctor, working hours were reasonable but with a heavy workload. Large paediatric component, helping me develop communication skills across all age groups. Minor / Major areas covered, giving broad experience of different tiered emergencies. As a first job after graduation, it was a perfect way to ease myself in to different specialties. At times I would manage one side of the A&E by myself in entirety. I felt this was certainly the best way to develop confidence and knowledge base after University.
Daily Commitments
Major emergencies & Minor emergencies.
Paediatric emergencies.
Clinic attendances (as an observer).
Practical procedures such as: reduction of fractures, reduction of dislocations, CPR, suturing, stapling, plastering, and various medical/surgical emergency management.
