Duties include but are not limited to the following: Recruitment, onboarding and retention:
-Preparing/Sourcing - Work with search committee chairs and HR department to actively recruit to add diverse faculty members by way of posting position descriptions through various medical journals and websites.
-Screening - Engage in search committee meetings to help assist in screening prospective candidates based upon the search criteria pre-established by the hiring department, for advanced faculty positions.
-Selecting - Once 3-4 candidates have been chosen, I make personal contact with these candidates to schedule virtual interviews followed by onsite interviews. Gather and distribute all candidate info (resume, cover letter, and references) prior to virtual and onsite interviews. Prepare full length (2 days) onsite interview itineraries where candidates travel to campus to meet with key stakeholders.
-Hiring - Once candidate of choice is announced I assist with developing the hiring package which includes making sure their contract is fully executed and signed prior to their start date.
-Onboarding - Once candidate has started, I assist them in completing the onboarding process for new faculty
members within the department. Onboarding process
includes some of the following: select trainings,
orientation, office setup, meetings with certain colleagues.
-Since starting in 2015, I have organized and assisted in the search, screening, hiring and onboarding process of 7 new faculty members within my department.
I also provide the following clerical tasks:
-Scheduling various meetings
-Setting up meeting spaces
-Maintaining multiple calendars for the chair and
department faculty
-Coordinating and processing pre and post travel in Chrome River system for faculty and staff.
-Ordering various office and lab supplies with department’s Procard – maintain allocation of monthly budget
-Record keeping for the departmental budget
-Updating and approving biweekly leave time in Kronos.
-Assist faculty with keeping their files updated for promotion/tenure (Retention)
- Provide support for the pre-doctoral dental program by coordinating and maintaining forms, e-mail communication and records and being in contact with different
administrators within the university, health sciences campus and various other clerical obligations.
Recently appointed to serve as the recording
secretary for the SoDM Diversity and Inclusion
Committee and co-chair for the Recruitment and
Retention sub-committee.
