Uintah Basin, Argentina, DJ Basin
Operating from 4 to a maximum of 11 rigs in the Uintah Basin, drilling 9,000’ to 12,000’ vertical and “S” curve wells for natural gas. Reducing the drilling time to 16 from 22 days down to 7 from 10 days with mud motor application, mud applications and PDC bit technology. Gas market fell and operations in the dry gas core of the Uintah basin reduced.
Assigned to Neuquen Argentina to drill several wells in the Vacca Muerta . Contracting trips to find all support technology, base of operations and drilling contractor for the project of deepening a partners well and drilling both a frac monitor well, and to drill a 14,000’ horizontal well consisting of 4800’ lateral section in the Vacca Muerta. Determined all services. Picked the three drilling locations near Rincon de los Sauces. Constructed the locations and pit for supplying the frac. Drilled the monitor well to determine the Vacca Core and drilled the main well with very few problems, under budget and ahead of schedule. Demobilized all equipment back to Neuquen. With the use of Oil Based Mud we were challenged to the task of disposal of waste cuttings and any residue remaining.
Reassigned to Rocky Mountain Division working the DJ Basin and the Powder River Basin, drilling horizontal wells of 14,500’ to 19,000’ with 5,000 foot lateral to 10,000’ lateral sections. Reducing the drilling time from original wells of 40 days to 15,000’ to best yet 8.5 days to 19,000’. Use of oil Based Mud, floating liners, underbalanced drilling when needed, correct motors and bits, along with a good working team that will stay with it due to excellent compensation. CURRENTLY WORKING 4 RIGS IN THE DENVER JULESBURG BASIN AND 1 RIG IN THE POWDER RIVER BASIN FOR EOG.

The other Mananda well was helicopter access only.

Drilling deep high pressure H2s wells in the Tengizchevroil field of Kazakhstan to depths of 20,000’ using mud cap drilling and intense safety measures. Began operations with 1 drilling rig and one work over rig operating, to 4 drilling rigs and 2 work over rigs. Supplying all equipment for drilling and moving of the rigs along with mobile support equipment and cranes. We had 700 employees at the peak of the operations, oil based and water based cuttings remediation and both bio and thermal desorption being used. Taking all wells from surface through flow back of completion. Experienced setting up evacuation plans, shelter in place and emergency response for all types of cause. Mobilized two 3,000 horse power drilling rigs from Santa Marta Columbia for upgrade in New Iberia Louisiana and forward transshipment to Tengiz via St. Petersburg Russia, and rail from St Petersburg to Tengiz.

Mobilized helicopter rig for CONOCO, from Cirebon Java to Merauke Papua Indonesia. Mobilizing from up river of Merauke with helicopters, locating the rig on the forelands of the mountain range running through the island. Drilling the well to total depth of 14,000’ and demobilizing the rig back to Cirebon Java.
Country went into financial crisis and all activity shut down.

Awarded contract to drill 90 well bundle of footage wells for YPF in the Santa Cruz and Chubut Province. Awarded a second bundle of 110 wells to drill for YPF. All contracts included drilling the wells to contracted total depth, we were to supply mud material, bits, water, paid for in a per foot amount. These footage awards were a result of the breakup of Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (YPF) as national oil company, under the leadership of Jose (Pepe) Estenssoro.
Work awarded by Tecpetrol in El Tordillo block Chubut Province Argentina, to drill multiple wells on a day work contract.
All wells were drilled to depths from 6500’ to 9000’ for both Tecpetrol and YPF.

Mobilize rig from Somalia to Yemen via trucks to Port Bosaso in Somalia, across the Gulf of Aden and into Port of Al Mukalla. Truck the remainder of the distance into the wadi systems of Yemen through Ataq. Drill first well to 11,500 in the bottom of the system, move 250 miles via trucks through Ataq and through Shabwah onto the top of the plateau, drill second well to 13,500’ . Drilled multiple water wells for the local townships and for our drilling water requirements. Move 42 Miles to Yemen Hunt location. Drilled well to 12,000’ no production. All wells drilled with air and foam when possible to reduce the volume of water required.

Unload from ocean going vessel to river barges and transport rig 650 miles up the Irrawaddy River to Monywa. Perform modifications to rig equipment and oversee the building of first drilling location. Helicopter rig 20 miles to the first drilling location. Drill well to 13,000’ complete and test. Helicopter loads of main rig equipment and truck other loads 25 miles via helicopter and 55 miles via truck and barge to second drilling location. Drill second well to 12,000’, P&A well. Demobilize all equipment back to Monywa stack area.

All unloaded at a beach landing in Bosaso Northern Somalia. Build location and desert air strip. Truck rig 450 miles inland to first drilling location near Hargeisa Somalia. Drill first well to 15,500’, no testing. Move 60 miles and drill second location to 14,000’. Collect all equipment, set on location around warehouse and evacuate to Djibouti.

Mobilize 3 rigs from Ships Channel in Houston on Ocean going vessels to Durban South Africa. Truck the three rigs from Durban to drilling locations in Johannesburg and Potchefstroom on the Witeswaterand. Set up and drill 3 wells each through the gold reef. Continuous coring of the operation started at 6,000’ and continued through 16,000’ then setting 10 to 12 whip stocks to continue cores at geology picked intervals.

Mobilize rig from Singapore to Timika Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Using the Barge Giant 4 which raised the Russian Submarine Kursk. Loaded all material required for base camp, two wells rig and camp on the barge. Sail to Irian run up tidal river 70 miles. Set up base camp, helicopter the rig and camp 16 miles from the barge, supply all items from the barge, casing, mud material, water supply equipment and line drill first well to 14,000’, fly to second well and drill to 12,000’. Demobilize back to barge and float back to Singapore.

Helicopter all equipment to second well and repeat the same drilling both wells to 12,500’. This rig remained in PNG for 22 years until it was retired in 2006.
