Organized the administration and operational functions of the Taos County Adult Detention Center which had a capacity of 24 beds. I was responsible for 140 inmates, supervised 10 correctional staffing with four shifts. I developed the files, booking procedures, billings, inmate property, automated system, Detention forms, policies and procedures from American Jail Association and American Corrections Association principles. Responsible for setting up the budget, purchasing, procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Developed the video arraignment for inmates by working with the courts and the police. Set up contracts and farmed out inmates from Taos County to Santa Fe, San Miguel, Rio Arriba and Cibola Detention Centers for safekeeping until court dates. I billed Town of Taos, Pueblo of Taos, Red River, Angel Fire, Questa, Rio Arriba for the use of the facility. The reason for leaving was because I was an exempt position and the expected political changes with the organization.

I served in the capacity of Northern Pueblos Institute Coordinator. The College had an agreement with the Northern Pueblos to provide training, technical assistance and educational support as they develop tribal management plans and community awareness of issues. I provided technical training and assistance by developing workshops, seminars, classes, grants writing, and information on issues for all Eight Northern Pueblos. Other information on issues as health care, environment, legal, and Jurisdiction was provided to the Eight Northern Pueblos. I also initiated an Eight Northern Pueblos Youth Camp. I used all the resources from the Eight Northern Pueblos to establish the camp. I was the director and I had as many as 10 persons volunteering and operating the camp. This camp continued and it is a yearly summer initiative for the Eight Northern Pueblo Youth.

I was the Administrative Coordinator to the Taos Pueblo Governor and Tribal Secretary. I was employed to be an inhouse advisor to tribal government on legislative policy, administrative processes and provide continuity of governmental service from one tribal administration to the next. I was required to be competent in research, analysis, communication and group facilitation. I coordinated all activities with the Governor's Office and Central Management Systems to ensure utilization of all aspects of federally funded programs beneficial to Taos Pueblo. Assessment of programs was provided to ensure the continuity of goals. I also conducted a Team Planning Process to complete a mission statement analysis of problems, needs, goals, objectives, and priorities. I left this position because of the exempt position and the expected political changes made yearly.

As a manager and supervisor, I was responsible for providing administrative direction, employee, supervision, planning, organizing, setting priorities, budgeting, coordinating, monitoring, reviewing, evaluating, and verifying inmate information. I was also responsible for supervising other records managers at 8 other Correctional Institutions in New Mexico, I coordinated with these 8 records managers by scheduled meetings and training sessions. I initiated extradition and went to court to testify on behalf of information. I directed, monitored, and evaluated a microfilm section. I served as an Interstate Detainer Agreement Administrator. I taught a class at the NM Correction Training Academy on Native American Inmate Issues. I supervised seven people: clerks, records managers; microfilm technician, statistical analyst, data control specialist, and a secretary. Job functions changed. Responsibilities were: Policy and Procedure development, Planning, Reviewing and auditing of inmate files; Special Reports development; Consultant on Indian Issues; Monitoring; Program development; training presentations and extensive coordination. High priorities of the Department became multiple tasks. I had responsibilities as an Indian Justice Specialist: Indian Justice Plan, technical assistance; training of tribal leaders in Comprehensive Indian Justice Planning.

Administrative of Indian Justice Division; Functional area skills in Law Enforcement, courts, adjudication, Corrections, Parole, Probation, Juvenile Justice, Delinquency, Prevention, Information Systems, and Community Relations. I worked with a team of Planners. I assisted tribal governments in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico to develop comprehensive plans for improvement of Criminal Justice Systems. Considerable data was gathered, and tribal plans were submitted to Tribal Councils for approval. The result was "integrated Criminal Justice Systems on tribal reservations giving full consideration to tribal customs and cultures". I left this position because the federal grant we were funded under ceased to exist. I can be credited for most police departments and correctional programs on Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico reservations.
